Lightweight flywheel?

if you are paying out of pocket for a clutch, aftermarket is cheaper 9 times out of ten

It's commonly accepted that ACT and Exedy are among the best aftermarket clutches. My bro had an ACT stage 1 in his GS-R, and I honestly didn't even notice a difference between that and stock, I imagine the Exedy would be the same. Flip a coin.

I've got the ACT Stage 1 and the Fidanza in my car. Bought them from Ken along with the MSP LSD. The LWF makes a huge difference and the ACT Stage 1 feels just like stock at the pedal.

I've never heard of a lightweight flywheel causing poor idle. I've heard people say it'll be a bit more tricky to start smoothly, and something about being a troublesome going up hill's for some reason I don't recall why, not that it matters in boca :)

My 2.0L Alfa had an 8 lb. FW--stock was nearly 19. WHile it was a bit more sensitive in response to throttle input, it had no effect on idle. You just had to play the clutch differently on launch, either at street speeds or under aggressive strip acceleration. Other machines with chopped FWs respond essentially the same.

I have to assume the Mazda be the same manner. BTW, when the clutch finally drops on my ride, I'm going the light FW route. The one thing I will do is have the clutch/ FW assembly balanced before install.
