Didn't see this posted, so thought I'd toss the link out.

The cobalt put in a lap time 3 seconds faster than our stock speed 3's. I'm wondering if anyone has the 2007 charts handy? I'd like to compare the top speed attained by both the speed 3 and the cobalt and hence try to determine if it's simply a matter of fade free brakes on the cobalt along with wider rubber that did the trick, or is it indeed suspension tuning.

tata for now,

Tigs

Hmm found the old charts, the difference in tops speeds seems to be 3mph in favour of the cobalt. So likely a combination of all 3 of the above pulled it off, or else simply the old driver mod. I didn't see a drivers list for the 2007 charts so cannot say if the drivers were the same.

Having sat in a Cobalt SS Supercharged when they first came out, I didn't mind the interior at all (I assume the current turbo SS is no diff). The exterior doesn't tickle my pickle, but it's not offensive (except the spoiler). The fact that the consensus is that the new SS is a **** hair faster on a track than the MS3 makes it a helluva deal from a performance standpoint. But I absolutely needed a hatch and the resale value of GM econoboxes is even worse than Mazda's (and that's saying a lot). Otherwise, I'd rock one.

My MS3's in the body shop right now because some dipshit hit it. The rental car they put me in is a lipstick red Cobalt. It's embarrassing. Even if it were an SS model I'd still be depressed. Looks like I have at least another week in the chebby. I can't wait to get my speed back.

+1. Hatchbacks are so much better.

GMs 2.0 turbo motor has recieved much praise in the auto press. Rumors suggest it can handle much more power in its stock form. There is a mod for Lotus Exige and Elise to swap the Toyota 1.8 for the GM 2.0 which really gives the Lotus insane power...see link: http://www.secantvehicles.com/index.html

When i get rid of my Bimmer i will get a used Exige and do the swap...that will be the ultimate track car. :)
