Hey just wondering what are peoples thoughts on these.
From the chrome moly types to just taking weight off the standard flywheel.

Just saw that they are available from Japan and was curious about them

Cheers

These help get you up in the rpm sooner, generally lightening engine components OR body parts is always beneficial to a point...

Also lighter flywheels will make a gutless engine(like ours), even more gutless off the line... the flywheel weight is enough inertia to not stall as easily when taking off, cutting the weight in half has a huge effect on how it is engaging the clutch... requiring more gas to overcome the fact that it wants to stop dead in it's tracks and stalls.. it will be a bit more picky about how much gas/clutch is needed to take off smoothly.

Had a 7.5 lb Fidanza on my old turbocharged Protege5. I didn't really notice any difference in driveability but then again the car was putting out over 200 hp to the wheels. Between it and the lightweight accessory pulleys I could never generate any positive pressure in 1st gear but that wasn't really a problem. I don't really know how a 100 hp/98 ft-lb car would react. Probably couldn't make it any worse. I already hate the clutch in this car with such a passion I'm looking for an excuse to replace it or the entire car.

^^Change the rear engine mount. i had the same problem with my clutch. i used the awr mount for three months but drove me nuts in start stop traffic. i ended up poly filling it with window weld and is not bad at all now. i do stall every now and then but is a world better than the stock one

I've been wanting to try this for a while. I just haven't felt like spending the money on an extra mount. If/when I sell the car I'd like to have the ability to revert to the stock mount.
