Liftgate-Tailgate Vertical Opening Clearance

One thing I quickly learned about the CX-9 is the liftgate does not have enough vertical opening clearance for my 6-1 height. My forehead constantly hit the liftgate in the first two weeks not the case for my old Highlander and Tribute.

Itll remain a hazard to me until one day I finally learn to keep my forehead away.

I actually like the lift height, as it opens inside my garage with about 3" to spare.

The new Cadillac SRX has a neat feature--an interior switch that allows you to select the height the rear hatch opens to.

If you replace the OE gas structs with ones that are slightly longer, you may be able to raise the height a bit. Not sure if the OE gas struct is length adjustable.
