Lexus IS300

if u dun trust it...
engine rebuild.

also check for oil consumption, cause if u fail oil consumption test, they'll replace ur short block with a rebuilt one

You will have to worry about winter driving.
Do you live in an area where you need to do a lot of up hill and down hill?

I work at a lexus dealership. The IS300 will be AWD Turbo for the 2006 model ;) I can not wait

Now, that's exactly what Toyota(Lexus) need to get themselves back to the game against Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Honda, and Mitsubishi ever since they dumped the AWD Celica, the RWD Corolla, and the Supra.

I love teh IS300. I would have one if I could afford it. They are mainly doing awd turbo to compete with Nissian and its Skyline.

I drove my friend's 02 IS300. Leather, 5spd. Very smooth. The smoothest inline6 ever. 2JZ power all the way. 215hp stock, rwd. It's pretty balanced too. Cornering was excellent. It's a heavy car at around 3400lbs. but you can't notice it while driving. The only thing I didn't like was the clutch/brake pedal placement, steering wheel and shift knob/shifter.

The pedal place [][] [] is liek that. whenever i wanna heel/toe or even shift, I keep hitting the brake w/ my left foot. The shifter was sloppy and the knob is too small. Steering wheel looks cheap.

Do you have pics of the 2006 IS300? I'm considering getting one or the 2006 BMW 3 series.

I agree with most of what you said except the steering wheel. I thought it actually looks really nice, but i guess its just preference. Btw curb weight is 3250 :)

you can look at the high engine milage this way... if worse comes to worse and it craps you, just get a 2jz gte and slap that bia right in there... hahaha instant baby supra! Me and my cousin are thinking about doing this with his is... replace the tranny and all since he too has an auto.

yea I have seen a bunch of them with Supra 6spd trans...Must be a pretty easy swap

Pros:
the car is definitely smooth, power when you want it, sporty, handles good, and good looking.
Cons:
The forums for that car are filled with people who act like 16-20 year olds and are irresponsible, based on what my dad said since he owns one.

I took a test drive in the is300 last year at the dealer - I wasn't impressed. I was expecting something faster. Don't get me wrong though - nice car, and toyota longetivity. Then again I'm currently looking at picking up a 350Z, and honestly, they are kinda heavy - still a fun fast car, but I was expecting more. The problem is I drove my old bosses z-06, and I'm starting to think it ruined me for life.

new ones like an ugly honda/acura knockoff...

and everyone on here talks like they have $5 or $6 grand laying around for new motors and turbos and transmissions

If you can, why not just wait for the new remodeled ones to come out then they will be giving incentives on the older styles to get rid of them?... or that may even increase the amount of used IS300's in your price range, which will give you more of a selection...
