evan youll be getting the rest of your money today. once im done with helping corey.

That would be much appreciated, thank you. Tell Corey I said hi.

interested to see what you find out about the brake proportioning valve. One thing I'll throw in about the brakes to keep in mind is that yes the kl engine is heavier but aren't you making the rest of the car lighter? If the car is overall lighter woudln't that make the brakes work better?

Interesting stuff on the rubber vs poly bushings. Does it say anything about having sleves for the bushings? Like Phen's rsb mine will squeak but the control arm bushings don't

A question. With more weight in the front, wouldn't the rear be more prone to lock-up and not the front?

The difference in weight between motors is pretty slim. The FS has an iron block while the KL is aluminum, which keeps the weight difference minimal.

Rubber is molded to the bushings and part (control arm, for example) and will flex while remaining connected. Whereas poly slides against the surfaces creating friction and require lube (that will wash/wear off).

So you have to buy new parts instead of pressing new bushings in? Also, as far as the lube, just install some Zerk fittings. My Energy Suspension sway bar brackets came with them installed for the prothane bushings, and it seems like a no-brainer. You want to use synthetic lube, I can't remember which kind exactly, as the others eat the poly bushings over time. I got a grease gun and the synth lube just for that, though I haven't used it yet.

I like what you said about the MSP brakes to Larry. Designed for the 3rd gen Protege. I'm leaning towards that route, especially since there are more pad/rotor options available and it's a direct bolt in affair. I just wonder with the extra weight of the motor and turbo up front it isn't a bad idea to upgrade components.

When you figure that you'll probably nix half of the interior again, the weight difference will be negligible. P5's are lighter than sedans anyway, so you'll probably be no heavier than a stock MSP when you're done.

Well s*** Phen... why don't you read the rest of the posts before you reply?

Same concept and myth with the LSx swap into Miatas. You are swapping an iron I4 for an aluminum V8.

I need to do a brake change and I have new pads and rotors already (I've been sitting on them for about 2 years now). I can take a look at the rotors and see if they are still good. They might need to be turned, but they aren't warped. The pads, however, are toast.

btw... no, you cannot have my calipers.

Haha, I was just kidding. But I might take those rotors from you if they are in decent shape. We can work out a price and shipping or toss them in the back seat of Dita.

Sounds like a plan. I won't be doing this until the end of the month when I get back in town just so you know. The MS6 is in need of some real tlc. She's been my workhorse for 6 years now.

Thanks! And no rush, I don't even have a car to wrench on yet. As Josh loves to point out. :P

True, but there is nothing wrong with getting everything lined up so you can attack everything all at once, am I right?

Troo dat, yO! I plan on wrenching on the car as soon as she rolls off the truck. haha. I miss having a project car...

Just a note, although I think you know this. The MS6 rotors measure out at 12.6" in the front and 12.4" in the rear. The only ones bigger in the front are the RX-8 at 12.7".... Just a bit of info for you.

All info is good info. And that is good info to have. Thank you, sir.

If you show me what needs to be wired, I do love soldering. But reading wiring diagrams make my brain itch. Speaking of wiring, I just found out about this stuff. Because it's so fun soldering two wires together then realizing you forgot to slip the heat shrink on.

While on the brakes discussion. what about Tom with his RX-8? That's the only mod he did was big brakes for Mid-Ohio. Granted, I'm not a race care driver, nor do I claim to be. But this car WILL see track days, I promise. I'll have to send him a PM and get some insight on them.
