I think I speak for everyone when I say it was our pleasure to help. That is part of the reason why all of us are members here. And we all bring something a little different to the table, research, experience, parts, labor, etc... Glad to see it getting buttoned up and moving. awesome job and welcome to the v6 Protege(5) club ;)

So something like this kit is what I'm looking for, right? It's got the probe, not the drill/tap sensor. And it seems like a pretty simple setup. And does this kit have everything I need and I can run both fans in tandem with this setup? As you guys know by now, I'm pretty dumb when it comes to wiring...

Levi, you can get a ride but it will be pretty boring. I'm going to wait 500miles to break in the clutch and motor. I'm very cautious. ;)

I wonder, will the radiator have hot spots (ie. what's the best place to put the probe)? I mean, in theory, it shouldn't.. but reality usually does not go according to theory. We need a thermal imaging camera!

Evan, I'll show you the setup that is running on the Bavaria for the electric fans. I have the wiring (I think) here at work too. I'll try to remember to bring it home with me. Golf league tonight, so I'll be home around 730 or so.

Today was a good day. Wes and I ran to Pull-a-Part and I snagged a vacuum line with the check valve from an FS 626. I'll have to try to rig up a system to get the hose to reach, it's still too short. But it was a $0.77 part so they gave it to me for free. heh-heh. Then we stopped at Autozone and I got the fan relay and got that all mounted. It took about 4-5 hours to do since I work at turtle speed. Then Wes and I took it for a ride around the block. The tach wasn't set quite right so we finally got it on the right setting. I was short shifting pretty early using the tach. After we got the tach sorted out I did a 2nd gear pull to 5.5k rpm and it was very fun. :)

I mounted the fan relay next to the battery.

I tried to install it as cleanly as possible but it still looks pretty messy. I've got some wire loom I'll try out tomorrow.

The temp probe just kinda slides into the fins and chills there. I was to put some zipties on each end or something so there's no chance it can wiggle out.

I still gotta do some cleaning up and tuck/snip some more wiring and wire up my HID's again. But it's very fun and sounds wonderful.

I have a question for all you KL guys. How forced induction can one of these engines handle before popping like the FSDE does?

And by the way, congrats on getting it running. Looks really good.

Dude, that's like the understatement of the century. This thing freaking rips. I have no other way to describe it, it revs like a bike, it pulls insane, and it sounds absolutely down right nasty. After 4k it gets this really high strung rasp in the exhaust, and holy cow, it's just a blast. That, with the coilovers, the rear sway (all equal no body roll), the awesome tires, the straight through exhaust, the super stiff mounts, the Evo seats and now the KL, it's easily one of the most fun driving (passenger) experiences I've had. I was giggling like a 12 year old girl the entire time. I'll bring my video cam after everything gets buttoned up and pretty, and I'll try to make a vid that does it justice... which is a tall order.

Very well. The turning is obviously the most important part, as the rods are the weak link like the FS, but some guy did 340+whp on a stock KLDE in a probe. I mean, it won't stand up to that for 200k miles, but what are your goals (don't clutter up the thread)? Look up the vids where WestpalmGT races a Viper and beats it. He's running a stock internal junkyard motor, plus an ebay turbo kit at 14psi and beats a Viper. What more can you want?

Gotta ask, why not turbo it cause that price list looked like it would get you on some boost and the work required would probably be similar. Just my thoughts.

BOOAARRING (if u mean turbo the FSDE)
