wait....why are you swapping that motor into the milly? what motors going into the P5?

The P5 is getting a lightly built ZE while she's in the garage for the winter. I figured 30 more chp (KLDE to KLZE) for about $200 is well worth it. Why buy another DE if I can swap the DE into the Milly and buy a ZE for the P5?

Is it done yet?

*runs and hides in my thread*

Quiet you...

Little tip of info: The JDM "Milly" motor is a direct bolt in but for the oil pan and windage try. It took me almost 4 hours to get the pans, pick up tube and windage tray swapped because the exhaust was in the way and I didn't want to risk breaking exhaust bolts and buying another gasket. Oh, and thanks for the tip, JK. The tap to the front of the oil pan popped it right off. The one on my JDM DE wasn't so willing. I resealed the bottom of it when I was checking everything and I basically had to pry that turkey off. But it's still usable. Those damn things are ~$150.

Almost done. I just needed to find which of the fuel lines were the send/return, same with the heater core hoses then I just need to plug in the rest of the wiring, drain/fill the tranny and brake fluid and a few other little things. Thankfully the suspension is done. That freaking sucked. The stupid front camber bolt barely has enough clearance to clear the frame rail/wheel well. I had to pound out about 2mm for it to clear on the drivers side. Stoopid Mazda design...

So how much would it cost to bring a group down to Hawaii to do a V6 swap for me. =)

I'll come out fo sho if you let me crash on your couch! I need a vacation...

You are the worst engine swapper ever......

I know dude. I take forever! I was telling Ivan yesterday; I triple check everything and I don't want to mess anything up or break anything. Until I'm finally like "Ya know, **** it. What's the worst that can happen?". I am going to bang out the rest tonight and hopefully take it for a drive around the block. If only I could find the damn clutch pedal... Then I have an alignment saturday at noon and the BMV for inspection, tags and plates saturday morning. At least that's the plan...
lulz... yeah what's taking so long? get off ur ass grampa

You shut your ***** mouth.

What camber bolt are you talking about, sweetie? I needs pics!

I'll take pics tonight of the camber bolts.

I drove the Milly around the block. :D

The power steering pump was mad though. It didn't have enough fluid and was screaching when Phen fired it up. I went under the car and about s*** myself because I thought the sound was coming from the block. I filled it up twice more and it's all gravy now. My brakes are terrible but I had to open the drivers front brake line for clearance for the axle. I've got new pads and fluid for tomorrow after work. A flush/bleed is in order.

It's smoking a lot too though. I'm assuming it's probably the s*** that was in the DE intake mani that Peaches cleaned out with brake cleaner. I need to run some Seafoam and fuel injector cleaner through her tomorrow. Also I filled the oil and it was barely registering on the dip stick. I'm hoping it's just because it was tilted back on jack stands and possibly the oil pan is a little wonky from my mallet. I'll keep a close eye on that oil level though. I forgot to check it after the ride around the block. I was pulling out of the driveway and accidently goosed the throttle, yup, still pulls like a KL. And oh my god, it's sooooo quiet. Stock exhaust on the DD FTW!

All in all, I'm pretty happy. I'm exhausted. But I'm glad the major things are done. Now just to fine tune everything and get the CEL checked.

Can I get temp tags without having the car inspected first?

That's the only way TO get temp tags. You just take the title and I.D. to the DMV, and pay $18 or whatever for the tag. Then you have 30 days to get it e-checked and inspected, then you get your plates.

And I have my scanner if you need a CEL cleared.

noice pumpkin, you should do the rear brakes while you're at it, you need to flush the system anyway... they can't be in better shape than the front

I'd give you a hand tonight with the brakes, but I'm going to Pittsburgh after work. Sorry man!

No worries, mang. Tessa is going to bleed them with me. Its simple enough that I think even she can push a brake pedal down and hold it.

Thanks again to Pablo, Wes, Ivan, Phen and even Kevin for all their help with the Milly. Just a few more thinks to work out then I can focus on building the P5 again. Muhaha!

Meh. The P6 already has speed bleeders and it's really not a tough job with two people. Just time consuming. I'm trying not to spend anymore money on the Milly. I'm looking forward to getting it all sorted out then focusing back on the P6 in the garage where I can really take my time. s***, if you thought the Milly took forever, the P6 will be done in 2015. Haha

Josh, I'd like to hit you up to buff out the Mazda residue on my rear trunk on the Milly if you and Wes are wrenching. I'll buy ya lunch. And I want to check out the progress on that turd Toyota taking up your garage space. Okay, okay, honestly I just want to play with the boxers. Haha

Well, the Milly is "done". The car is running like a champ and no more CEL. E-check forst thing Monday morning then plates. I ran some Seafoam through the motor to clean out the old 175k mile DE intake mani and did a WOT pull and it didn't seem to up-shift on it's own. The redline is 6.5k and it went to 7.2k rpm until I got off the throttle. That was weird. I don't plan on ever having to floor it since it's a boat of a cruiser but it's weird it didn't shift at redline. It's that mad JDM motor, yO!

I have the original window sticker for it. Yeah. ~$27,895 in 2000. I got it for $650 in 2011. Crazy.

Ivan was playing with the electric seats. Why would anyone ever need to crush their own legs in the front seat is beyond me. But if you feel the need to, buy a Millenia.

That seat deal must be a Mazda thing. The passenger seat in the 3 almost goes under the dash. Pretty handy for a baby seat though.

i think its incase you need to fit anything large in the back. slide the seat all teh way up in the 3 and fold it forward all the way and it forms to the dash almost making as much space in the back as possible

Yay for Mazda depreciation!

I knew you could do it, sweetie! I wish I was there for the maiden start-up, but I'm glad it's running, nonetheless. I wonder if the tach is just inaccurate.

When you do this...

Pretty handy for a baby seat though.

You end up with this problem...
