leopard anyone?

Love it! Spaces is a huge help in organizing material, Time Machine is incredible, and I find the new mail much more intuitive than outlook... My macbook pro is running faster now!!

about spaces: is that like how windows lets you have multiple local login IDs or is it something different? i've heard it talked about like it's a big thing but windows has been doing this forever so maybe i'm missing something

spaces lets you have 4 different desktops available to you. for instance, you can have a desktop with all your safari browser windows, one for photoshop, one for word, one for mail, etc, so it cleans up your desktop.

no more accidentally clicking on a safari window when you mean to click on your photoshop layers window. there was a program for tiger called desktop manager that did the same thing.

so it's like those linux distros that have a "cube" desktop where each desktop is a side of the cube? like multiple desktops at the same time vs windows which lets you have 1 desktop per user and you have to switch users to get to the different desktops

You can actually have up to 16 spaces if you'd like... just adjust it under system preferences.

ah so it's the linux variant.

i wonder how long it is until the first person has a ton of stuff running in their other "spaces" that they forget about and start to complain about it. they can build a good system but they can't build good users

One of the great things about Spaces is that you can still see all of the open programs within your dock... if you click on a program that's open, but not in your current space, you get taken to the space the program is in. Also, the bird's eye view is what is really handy... you can drag and drop different programs into different spaces extremely easily.

I really don't know how Apple does it. Quick look is my new savior in the office today!
