legacy gt owners?

:
GLA45
i stopped by the dealership today and they have a legacy gt with the options i want (or the major ones at least) so i'm starting to research them a bit. my brother works at the dealership next door (same owner) so i should be able to get a good price. the only thing i'm worried about is it being too much of a luxury car and losing the feel for the road. it's also a bit big for me, but we'll see when i test drive it how it feels. just curious if anyone on here has one and what they think of them.

anyone with any experience with them? anyone at all? tomorrow i'll see what my brother can get for a price for the legacy gt, the evo and the sti, so impressions of the lgt would be wonderful. on legacygt.com pretty much everyone seems to like them, no real issues like the MSP. some people have small gripes about it, but all pretty minor stuff compared to the flash, clunk, windshields breaking, stereos dying, fun mystery noises, etc...

I bought mine in Nov and absolulty love it. I really wanted a car that I could tinker with and have fun in but still not feel like a ricer parking it in front of my office. It is an awesome daily driver with great pick up (I compare it to a WRX) but I have the auto. I believe the manual is faster but I'm not all about going fast and 5000RPM holeshots. I love the car and I'm sure you will too....just drive one and see. I got mine wtih no options except auto for $25,800 and I believe no other car out there is this good for any where near that price. So far my only complaints are that I can't drive it enough.

sweet, that's pretty much what everyone over on their discussion board says too. they love them. i'm still waiting to hear back from my brother on what i can get for a price. parts he gets for 10% over dealer cost, so sti upgrades would be nice, or if i can get the car for that it'd be sweet too :) the one i'm looking at is a gt limited, 5-spd, regal blue with black leather :) hopefully i'll be able to get it for 26-27 out the door but we'll see. i like the potential of the car too with the AP and all of the sti or other parts, i won't have to worry about the engine blowing up like with the MSP. i can see the LGT as a car i could own for 5 or so years and not get bored with it, unlike my current car which i've been bored with it for about a year and i've only owned it for a year and a half.

how is the driving feel? i've owned a few mazdas and have read lots of reviews about them, and they all seem to say the feel they give you when driving is great (especially the rx8, which is another option right now). if it's comparable at all then i might be sold, i'll need to drive it, the sti and the evo back to back though of course to make a final decision :)

I don't own one, but there is a local guy who got his this past summer and autoxes it and has sponsorship. He says he loves it. My bf test drove one too and really liked it, his only complaint was that he would have to get leather to get the moonroof. He said it felt more like a smooth V6 than a turboed 4cylinder.

THe drives really great. My in laws have a X-Type Jag and rides smoother and handles a lot better. It has a real sport feel to it yet refined for long road trips. The car does get tail happy when you push it...never seen that in an AWD car before but it makes it feel like a real wheel drive which I prefer over front wheel. And the power is real nice after 3000rpm...lots 'o torque. And if you install the AP you're looking at almost STi numbers around 290hp and 300tq. I would've opted for the sunroof but I didn't want leather. And don't forget about the best part of the car the gagues! I posted a pic on here somewhere do a quick search.

Word. I test drove one and liked it. Doesnt feel fast but it is. I thought it handled surprisingly weel with good feel for the road.

I like the fact that it isnt "boy racer" and more of an affordable luxury sedan with AWD.

Yeah it has a luxury feel to it as far as speed goes but when you hit WOT it makes some noise...esp. after 3000rpm. I looked at the A4 and Acura TL but they were $5-$10k more for a bunch of crap I didn't need. I think I'll mod mine with an AP and leave it be. Like I said it's fun to drive stock even with the auto 5 speed.

If I could afford it, I'd sell the WRX for one. I got a chance to get in one the other night, and it's sweet. Bigger displacement mixed with a smaller turbo makes a nice N/A V8 feel. With the soon-available 3" turboback exhaust from Autospeed, the car has a nice but quiet grunt under acceleration and a faint but distinguished burble at idle. The LGT also looks and feels a lot classier than my Impreza does.

In other words, I would drive it places I wouldn't really take my WRX...like a fancy restaurant. (laugh)

there was an sti behind me today with what had to be his stock tires on (they were stock wheels at least), and since the roads are still crappy when he punched it i saw his ass end get squirely

thanks for all the feedback everyone, i'm gonna call my brother in a bit and see if he found anything out about the one i was looking at, and if he didn't politely remind him to go ask tomorrow :)

haha

you change your mind about cars more than anyone i know.......even kyle!

how about a tsx, or an 02 Is300+turbo and misc mods for about the same price. My friend got an 01 when I got my msp, I love it. what happened to the s4? i dunno, just brainstorming here....

haha, i know. maybe one day i'll actually get a new car :)

i'm not a big fan of the tsx, it's ok but i'd rather have the subie. i'd want a new car so no old is300, plus i think those cars need a good amount of work to be really fun to drive. the s4 i decided would cost me too much in maintenance with all of the problems they have. maybe one day when i can afford it as a project car, but they're too expensive now for all the work they require just to keep running right.

they have a project tsx in SCC. they dropped it and put some volks on it. looks so pretty.

whats wrong with the msp again? (uhm)

I looked at the used IS300 and S4. The IS300 is a nice option but I wanted AWD. A 5 year old S4 is as much as a new Subie so I went for the LGT. I'm telling you for the money theres not another car out there.

i couldnt do the lgt....i hate seeing 45 cars like mine every time i go out somewhere

Around here there's one silver one and thats it. I've only seen 3 on the road since I bought mine. Maybe a couple more but they weren't GT's. And there's not another GT in the world like mine since I backed out of the garage and caught the roof with the door! Arrrh! Mother F'n door!

i think i've only seen a few legacy gt's around since they came out

and my brother works in this auto group:
http://www.krausecars.com/
and the subaru and mitsu dealers are right next to his place, and they're pretty much the only ones that have cars that i would want anyways, which is another reason why the legacy gt instead of say the s4

We traded the 04 Miata for a 05 Legacy GT limited. We just love it! AWD is awesome especially in the snow. The MSRP was 31K and we got for 28K with 3K miles on it. The dealer we bought it from are awesome to deal with unlike the Mazda and Nissan Dealers we're use too dealing with.

Another thing is I would prefer a LGT over a used S4 because most likely the S4 was beat on. S4s are very expensive to repair. I have two cousins with S4s and I have heard them complaining about repair bills.

Subaru has a 05 Legacy 3.0 R with the H6 6 cylinder under the hood with 250hp for people that don't want the turbo model.
