2012 CX5 Grand Touring
Howdy all,

My wife informs me that without warning while driving at only 10 km/h in a quiet side street there was a loud bang and the glass in the left side mirror cracked??????

Says she didn't hit anything, there are no marks on the mirror body etc.....

Has anybody else heard of this?? Is it a problem with CX5's?

The car is only 8 months old with 4000 km's and lives 99% of its life in a garage.

Very strange.......

Mmmmm apparently there isn't any impact damage on the glass surface, just a crack??

A 2012 CX-5?

Was mirror vibration TSB/fix done recently maybe?

Well you do have the 2012 version of the CX-5 so not sure the TSB would be of any help (lol2) (rei)

A mirror cracking on its own would not make that loud bang, did someone fire a rifle or something. I don't know man unless a bird or a bat flew into the mirror or something. Kind of unusual but anything could have happened.

Pittsy - minor point, but what some here are trying to point out is that while the CX-5 was first sold in calendar year 2012, the first model year designation was 2013. Note that we're in May 2013 and the 2014 model year version has been available for some weeks now. So you actually have a 2013 CX-5, not a 2012 CX-5.

Robert, nope, look more closely. Pittsy is not in the united states. He may very well have a 2012 as the CX-5 was released in Australia before it was released here in the US.

Yes, good observation because they were sold as 2012's if location is Australia (not Florida).

Sorry about that! I was thinking Florida, but obviously the metric measurements should have been an obvious giveaway. Duh!

Car made Feb 2012

Just home, impact damage on the front face of the mirror housing so it hit something.

Cancel the above, thanks all.
