So before i purchased my P5 the guy said he had the left CV shaft re-done i have some concerns due to the fact that there seems to be a dampener on the right side (passenger side) on the shaft towards the center but yet there is not one on the left side. It also has about a centimeter of movement in and out when the car is not jacked up can some one please let me know if this is the incorrect shaft. Possibly point me in the right direction of where i can find the proper shaft when i check online all of the images don't contain the dampener for the left or right side am i missing something?

The dampener is nothing really to worry about. Aftermarket shafts usually don't include one, and I haven't noticed any difference without it.

About the movement, if it isn't leaking or vibrating I wouldn't worry about it.

Keep in mind that the left side drive shaft is different for the standard and automatic transmission.

For some reason the right side drive shaft is the same for all ???

There is some confusion about this and you may possibly have the wrong shaft installed.

Your shaft input to the transmission should be triangular (part #3 in second diagram) if you have an automatic and round (part #4 in first diagram) if you have a standard.

I think that it may be vibrating slightly as there is a slight bit of vibration in the steering above 80.

Most likely a tire out of balance.

Although I would take pcb's advice and have a look to make sure the correct axle was installed.

Will take a look tomorrow, but i know for sure that the tires are balanced properly brand new rims and i had them check the balance twice.
