LED mirror replacement - again

I keep noticing a lot of new vehicles with various types of signal lights built into the mirrors. Has anyone figured out if the Japanese OEM replacements work and are easy to install?

From what it appears, the Japanese setup is just a cover and the LED assembly. Again, it appears as if the cover and LED assembly will just swap right over. Someone else on the forum figured out how to take the cover off and looked to see if the wiring was there for the swap. It wasn't. So, I would assume that you can add this to the vehicle but you would need to add the wiring to get the signals to work. I do not know if anyone has actually attempted to add these.

I would love to but I don't want to cut or tap into any wires Or its the wife's car and she won't let me. Either excuse works.

Thanks for the replies. I believe that the two mirror assemblies are about $100 US on ebay. They are OEM from Japan and should just pop on after painting. It would have been nice to have the wiring sitting there ready to use! I will have to wait until some other brave sole tries it.

Has anyone confirmed that the Mazda5 and the CX7 share the same mirrors? When you click on the link that says "(M) Mazda CX-7 LED Signal Mirror Cover" it takes you to a page that shows the Mazda5 and even in the description it says "Fits on All Mazda5 model"

I don't doubt that they are just using stock photos of sorts but I would verify what they are showing on the site before I order.

the CX-7, CX-9, and mazda5 share the same basic mirror designs... but the "add-on" kits you see are NOT OEM mazda parts because no such official kit exists except for the CX-9's which are just complete mirrors
