LED Bulbs

Well I finally order some LED bulbs to replace my front flashers, rear flashers and brake lights. I had order the bulbs from superbrightleds.com and it take long to get them. I had also order the resistors so that they would work properly. Well I tried them out and they were not super bright at all. The regular bulbs were at least 50% brighter. I was very disappointed and I will be returning them. Just thought I would let you know.

hm thats weird for an LED bilb to be not as bright as a halogen...

Maybe they were bad quality, I know the LED's I got from radioshack for my angel eyes work really good and didnt have an issue with them being not bright enough.

For your side markers and such if it is a 194 bulb just replace it with the Polarg 194 hyper whites(they come in different colors, primarily red and blue.

The problem with LED bulbs is that the light they emit is very focused.

Regular halogen bulbs emit light much more evenly and the reflectors in the various light housings on our cars are made to reflect this light and illuminate a larger area. When LED bulbs are installed in these housings they just project light straight out, and don't make use of the reflectors.

The result is brightly illuminated dot, instead of a more evenly lit pattern. Thats why on cars that are designed to have LED lights, they don't use reflectors - they just use an array of 10, 20, 50, etc, LEDs.

I dont know how concentrated the light on LEDs are on all of the different kinds, meaning I have to wrap the section where the LEDs are placed in my angel eyes with black electrical tape or too much light is emmited all over deluding the effect of the actual eye ring.

But the ones placed in those bundle led bulbs, the ones that fit into regular 194 sockets but have a flat face with 5-10 leds in it, seem to be placed deeper into the housing than they could be, meaning it looks like only the top of the bulb part of the LED is showing so only a little part of the light comes out.

I persoanlly think manufacturers have dimmer leds than what they could use because they want their tail lights that have leds in them to be very distinguishable(SP?) from normal tail lights.

they could use a reflector and make it a uniform section of light, maybe, i may be way off here too, just my 1 time experience with LEDs so far.

i ordered led bulbs for my pillar guages from them and got them like 4 days later. their bright and blue just what i wanted. just to let you know
