Least favorite Mod?

mbc is way cheaper...

i think being able to control boost spike/creep is rather important. can you set the boost at different psi at different rpm levels with an mbc?

im not saying a mbc wont work, but to say an ebc is a waste of money is ignorant.

I dont know, but you can ask JDM Sam about the difference between a MSP with cai and one without. PM him.(glare)

BTW, Greddy Type-S bov, leaky mF....replaced with HKS, silky smooth idle.

A $299 downpipe. Should of just went custom as the over priced one broke at the flex pipe section way too soon.

I would love to see a dyno sheet that evidences just how pointless a CAI is on an MSP? I would never take mine off of my car. It was my first mod on th car.

we need a video.

Injen CAI. Completely and totally pointless, not to mention the aggrevating sound effects.

Autometer C2 gauges. I had the boost and narrowband air/fuel. The boost completely died on me after a few months, and the air/fuel was nothing but a waste of space.

Rockblocker tinted tail overlays. They were a total failure, despite the fact that I followed the installation instructions precisely AND had two people to help me. Explain to me how a flat overlay is supposed to go over a curved tail light without making massive wrinkles. Yeah. $50 that I'll never see again.

Innovate wideband gauge. I spent nine months -- yes, NINE months -- trying to get the goddamn thing to work. I was in contact with the company on a nearly daily basis, trying and trying to get it installed -- NOTHING ever got it operational. I finally lost my patience and told Innovate that if I didn't get my money back, BAD things would happen. To their credit, they refunded all my money immediately.

Mazdaspeed valve caps. Not a bad mod, but now I'm just bitter on the subject since they were stolen TWO HOURS after I put them on my wheels. ******* NJ punk-ass bitches.

And there's prolly more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Eibach Pro-kit P5 Springs on my sedan. Looked bad-ass, but too stiff in the rear (what I get for using wagon springs) and too low for delivering pizza around Athens.

Now I'm running stock MSP suspsension. Good handling, high enough to negotiate driveways and dirt roads. When I'm done delivering, I'd wouldn't mind getting some Pro-kit sedan springs on there.

DGM CF shifter bezel. It blows donkey dick.

I second that.

MSP wheels on my end m'thinks. Maybe if I had the horses and didn't care about accelleration...

I happen to really like my MSP wheels and I haven't really noticed any acceleration issues...

Anyhow, my least favorite mod was probably the VTCS Removal and IM Port/Polish. The VTCS removal and port/polish was easy and it has yielded some power, but it's getting the @#%! thing into the car that was a pain (literally). Also, now I might have some small vacuum leaks because my idle is about ~100 RPM lower now...

...Yes I know I have a P5 and this is the MSP forum!

Forge BOV - herky, jerky city as it would blow off at very low boost (couldn't be bother to do a dual bov/bpv install). Fortunately got it cheap used and will bring it back into service when I relocate my MAF to the pressure side(once the warranty ends ;-)...

What model do you have, the stock replacement or the atmospheric valve?

Wow that definately opened my eyes about the CAI... maybe i'll just wait to get one of those inless i get it for a steal .... someone wanna let theres go for say ... i dont know .... 5 bucks? lol Just kidding ... good info though.

The atmospheric (bov). It would blow off prior to shift and then again during shift due to the dual-piston design and basically made the car undrivable. You either have to do a dual valve setup or move your MAF to the pressure side.

Greddy Oil Catch Can. $100 cdn down the drain.

Why do you feel the oil catch can was a waste of money? I don't have a catch can, but I thought it was a good idea to have one in a turbo car.

Blowing off prior to shifting would not be a result of the dual piston design of the valve, I can only think of three causes: inadequate boost reference, spring tension being to low for either or both of the springs, or a deffect/failure in the valve. Do you still have the valve?

Yup.

I could'nt agree more. A colossal waste of time. They do look cool, and sound cool, but thats about it. I removed mine about a month ago, and don't regret it one bit.
