Leaky D/P

I was wondering what u all thought.. Please help me out.
I was at our local track and i ran a 15.318 @ 91.660
60ft time of 2.416 (Only got 2 runs and this was my second..)

@ 2500 elevation you convert it by
Et: x .97
speed: X 1.07

14.858
98.076

Whats a severe D/P Leak goin to effect?
When im idleing you can hear the put- put sound.
I rev it up you hear back fires (2 or 3)
Down shifting you hear like 4 - 5 back fires.

Mods: Protosports D/P/EBC 9.5 - 10 psi./3" Exhaust and Injen CAI.

With all those mods you should be well in to the mid 14s of not low 14s. I know i have heard that it gets even harder to launch when you up the boost and get more power so i can understand. Anyway i am not sure of the problems that might result fomr a leaky dp but i can imagine that you are losing back pressure so your turbo might not spool as fast, but again i am not really sure.

actually, less back pressure and turbo spools up faster (doh)

(mswerd)the turbo will love you but your ears won't. For your exhaust are you running a resonator with it or just straight 3" piping all the way to muffler...?

3" to the muffler.
So the d/p leaking won't hurt my times?

Leaky DP won't hurt times. I have my exhasut setup the same way and it back fires on me all the time. I suggest putting in a resonator. It will create alittle more back pressure on the turbo but will reduce the backfiring you're getting.

leaking dp should not affect the power barely, if any...why is it leaking, have you tried to fix it?
It's leaking through the flexpipe. I'm waiting for a downpipe from mazda usa right now. So its not worth it to fix it unelss I end up selling it.

I heard backpressure is worse for turbo cars...
Another question.
In 1st gear i floor it until it hits close to redline... its around 10 psi... Then i shift to 2nd and try to drive normal... But it seems like theres so much pressure in the turbo that it makes me car feel like it boggs down... and just stops. Makes me scared.(uhm)
Edit: Only happens in 2nd gear... Not 3rd , 4th, 5th.

Ya, I only got two runs. First run was a 2.51 60ft. (wedge)
2nd run i got it down to 2.4

I wasnt done tryin ot fiddle with my tire pressure. I was going to lower it down to .28 psi or even lower. No traction even at the track in 1st gear all the way to redline.

2.5 60', thats your problem right there =), get it down to a 2.2xx and you'll see 14's.
Out of my whole life i have never seen any 2.2xxx =( I just don't know how to . The best 60ft... Was my D/P Exhaust and Injen cai on stock boost.
2.361 60ft.
15.518 converts to 15.052
87.963 converts to 94.120

=( I just don't know how to get down there. Tire pressure would hlep me acheive this? I've never brought my tire psi below 30...

So the flow of exhaust doesn't matter even for top end?
less backpressure on a turbo car = BETTER top end, thats the whole point, with no backpressure you will lose a little bottom end but who cares, once it hits boost your good to go.

take it to like 18psi on the front tires, see if that helps you, last time at the track i was getting high 2.2x - low 2.3 60's and im pushing way more power then you, so its achievable, also either slip the clutch or feather the throttle on launches, i myself like to slip the clutch...

What about the question to my 1st gear problem =( It really makes me (sick)

But when i Do floor it into 2nd it doesnt have a problem.
