LCD vs. Plasma TV's and What Kind?

agreed. cartoons look good on everything. Dark scenes are what shows a tv's weaknesses or strength's.

Samsung is supposed to be releasing their slim crt this year as well. Really interested in seeing this, if anything for my pc as well.

LCD is probably going to be a clearer picture (depending upon resolution). I have a 42" Gateway plasma and 17" Gateway LCD and like both of them.

2) Good call about the LCD. I think I'm leaning towards 2 Panasonics. The 42" Panasonic TH 42PD25U/P or the 37" Panasonic TH 37PD25U/P. Cnet gave the 42" good reviews, but the 37" might be enough for how far away we'll be sitting and its about $350 cheaper!

42" Panasonic is the best choice I have a HP and it's good but is all about using component input and if you can DVI is better.
Be sure to check out Windows Media Center 2005.

yeah i think my mind is pretty much set on either of those, but it seems to be alot more difficult to find the cheaper 37" Panasonic plasma...just gives me time to save up some money i guess

are those prices from that link u posted above? cuz the cheapest i saw the 37" was from an online store for $1700 something and they didn't have it in stock... hook me up w/ where u got those prices from, i'd really appreciate it!

Oh lord, i smell an argument a brewing with a person with 8 posts comes in with a statement like that. My stand is they all have benefits and weaknesses. Plasma's greatest benefits are its cost per size and its PQ is usually better. LCD's have no burn ins, and they are made in smaller sizes plus higher resolutions. But anyway. I got my tv from http://store.yahoo.com/refurbelectronics/lc37g4u-rb.html ....everything was fine for 2 weeks but it actually started to not turn on properly. Of course its covered by the warrenty, and they are coming to pick it up and fix so i really don't mind, becuase i still saved $2000 buying refurbished.

I don't know how you could conclude that one is better than the other using that website. They both have their attributes.

Yeah both of you guys are right. I was trying to make it more dramatic than what it was. Anybody who owns either or wins. Big difference between both. With the lcd in 5 years or so you have to replace just the bulb depending on wear and tear. With the plasma in 5 years or so you have to replace the entire tv. And I know this because I have talked with many people associated with electronics including televisions. (gossip) That is what they tell me but they also said for the $, the DLP is better than both.

P.S. I am new here but not in the "other" forum. Representing Illinois.
