Here is my most recent mod. I bought the Harman/Kardon Drive and play but could not stand the screen mount setup they had. So I took it apart and installed the screen in the empty space under the radio. I wanted to change the LEDs to match dash lights but they are enclosed in the screen. If anybody wants a how-to I have images just let me know.

oh man, that is sweet... definitely post a how-to! I'm not sure I;m that adventurous with wiring, but if you can make it look that clean, it might be worth considering.

couple questions, is the lcd always lit when on? and in the third pic, is that the remote you're showing?

Yes that is the remote and the LCD screen goes of after 10 secs. So not to bad only have to deal with the blue when viewing screen.

Intereseted in thad MOD for sure..

I would love to have the how to for sure. Sharing things like this is the pupose of this forum.

me too, did you have to dremel a hole large enough for the screen or is it just stuck on there with a hole for the wire? I think the blue light looks good with the head unit orange.

me too, I was just about to buy one of those for 100 from 6 ave, but I heard they only work with video ipods and skip parts of songs with 3rd gen ipods

I have a 30 gig video and have had no problems. I can't say for the other models.

that really looks amazing, I need it now. Did you dremel the area out for the screen or is it just stuck on it with a hole for the wire. I guess the stand comes off the screen.

I am making a how to. Look for it tomorrow evening.

I am very impatient so I apologize for asking, but do you still plan on doing a walk through, all I am really interested in is how you mounted the screen on the radio face like you did. Thanks in advance

Yes I am doing it tonight.

nice your the best, I called HK today and asked about problems with older ipods and they said it wasn't an issue, but they did say if you update your ipod with the newest software from apple it may cause problems, so make sure you don't update your ipod.

Excellent job. that's one of the things I never liked about the D'nP.. the huge screen you have to put somewhere. Looks like you cut that out perfectly and it sits quite well in that space.

If you want to change the color of the LCD you could probably pull it apart and insert a red filter to give it a different color. There are similar mods for changing the HU LCD to be red text on a black background... like the odometer.

very nice work... that plugs right in to the stock stereo no problems???

The drive 'n play only gives you a way to control the ipod, and it's not an audio input itself. You still have to plug the audio output from it's "brain" into an input on the stereo.

EDIT: Looks like he has a GT MS3, so I assume he just ran the drive 'n play into the aux input...... unless he's using a FM transmitter as the stereo LCD shows a FM station.

EDIT 2: Read the walkthrough and saw how he did it. :)

Yeah chose to use the hardwire FM transmitter because if you use that power outlet next to the aux input you will get terrible background noise.

you can get a ground loop isolater to take care of that 20 bucks from crutchfield and gives you perfect sound
