Laz MP2000's Build Thread

yup just not enough love bro... but yeah ive been checking yours out to man im very interested in everyones build threads and where they are going to lead too !

Nice! That Sport 20 bumper does look good. I'm doing a build on my 1.6 though mine's a 2001. Check it out when you have time. The link's in my sig.

Tomorrow im taking the car in to the shop and getting it running like new, the guy is going to clean out everything and fix everything cant wait!

Thanks Argie! i cant wait to start meeting people around the forums :) oh and great job on your interior, just looking at your interior makes my interior look like crap and makes me want to redo mine haha.

Believe me,it wasn't an easy task,lots of time,sweat and blood!,yeah,few cuts.
The nightmare was taking the complete dash out, painting it was a breeze.

sweet another 99-00 on the forums, the 99-00 is like the awkward teenager face for the protege where the 2001+ is the ive grown up face. Either way I love my 00 and with the 01+ lip and the rest of the lip kit I wouldnt settle for another protege, unless i got a classic red p5 rear ended or blown motor that happened to appear in my yard, but thats another story. good luck on the build and post plenty of pictures.

Argie: Damn, thats alot of work, if i were to do what you did i would probably get a professional to do it for me since i know i wouldnt be able to do it but i have to give you alot of respect for what you went through and what a great job you did on it!

IukekiniProtege: I love my Protege especially since its my first car and ill make sure to post alot of before and after pictures for you guys and all the future protege owners. By the way great job on that engine swap i was just reading the thread, it was probably really hard.

actually the hardest part was trying to sort through all the bulls*** info out there regarding the swap, once we handled it like any other swap we do it was easy the motor and trans physically bolts right into place, axles are the same as the 01-03 2.0l protege axles and the shift linkage lined up too. Is it as easy as installing an intake, hell no but it was terribly hard.

Yeah alot of people give false information, i know it really gets me confused when i read 10 different things but i know there all just trying to help in the end.

Your car looks clean! Corksport sells some sport20 bumper and the North American head light fits on it. But you'll need the front grill that goes with the bumper.

And you have fogs on your protege! that rare stuff! I add some ready to install but since my FMIC pipping passes right in the spot the fogs are suppose to go I had to sell them... Why don't you try to find your self a OEM 2001+ front lip. If it's not a replica it will fit on the 99-00 bumper and you can keep the fogs :P

it doesnt fit out of the box though u have to shorten it on each side, but it does look good if time is taken and yeah ur lucky to have the fog lights, it took me two years to come across a set for mine.

Really? i didnt know that they were rare! bu tnow im stuck between picking the sport 20 bumper and the stock bumper with the lip, what do you guys think? VERY hard choice and your protege looks amazing with that lip IukekiniProtege

I forgot to mention i might give my headlights to some guy(not sure what his mazdas247 name is) who does hid projector conversions depending on price :)

I found out his name is Matt V, when i get those headlights off you ill probably be sending them to him after.

o ok he does a badass job but pricey but very professional.....he does a awesome job on headlights........

Your right, i was looking at previous jobs he has done and they look amazing but just alittle pricey.
