I recall, back in the day, the AWD guys would launch their cars at the track while the car was dog tracked (not perfectly straight, but a little to the side). They claimed it got them out of the "hole" a lot better and improved 60 foot times. It also generated a little torque steer and wheelspin that helped get the engine into the power band.
I thought, if anyone knew, it would be the folks with the MS6. Any corroboration?
I know I tried it in my fun, albeit slow, CX-7 and it did make an apparent difference (.4 secs to 60 MPH). I did it a few times to make sure it was not a fluke.
