lanzar optidrive vs planet audio big bang

:
2001 Mazda MP3
A guy a work with has a friend who is the lanzar rep in my area, but i have never heard of them until him. I've narrowed it down to the lanzar opti drive or the planet big bang. Im doing one 12, two sets of 6.5 componets and a signle channel amp and a four channel. the planet stuff i can get for about 1350, and the lanzar optidrive stuff the guy i work with friend said he can get it to me for 750. I just am sceptical because i have never heard of them and no car audio dealer in my area sales them, so that makes me think there must something wrong with them if one of the three stores doesn't sale them and a guy is the loan rep saling out of his basement. i know how the planet stuff sounds and have had a couple planet audio stuff that i really liked, but i always like to save money. i just need a none bias opinion becuase of course if a store doesn't sale a certian product they will bash it. please give me some experienced opinions

Lanzar had its 15 minutes of fame...in the 80s. They are bargain basement gear now. The only dealer near me runs his shop out of the local flea market...that's right...he sells it along side a few other ghetto fabulous brands.

Sadly, Planet Audio isn't much better. They've been floating around the same price range for a while trying to break through. However, unlike Lanzar, they are building their name up from scratch (instead of trying to stay in the game) so I gather there gear is a little better than than what their price tag says.

There are far worse brands out there than both of these. BOSS, Kenford, Rockwood, and SoundStorm come to mind. Note that they sound similar to more popular brands.

You can find Lanzar on eBay for cheap, and it is also sold at www.partsexpress.com. Check out those sites for a reference point before you buy anything.
