KW Variant 1 Coilovers

the 1.2'' drop is for the coilover with the serial # that ends in "06". which is advertised for the Mazda3. The serial # that ends in "10" is for Speed3 and that has an inital drop of 0.8''...

check it out at tirerack.

Actually the H&R variant for the Mazda 3 is 29197.3. MS3 is 29197.6. I think you might have referenced V1's during the comparison.

I have the Variant 1s on my MS3. At the time H&Rs were backordered indefinitely. They still took a month of so to get.
As far as riding impressions they're definitely stiffer than stock and stiffer than just doing lowering springs. Youre definitely gonna feel those 400lb/in spring rates up front. Instead of float you can feel the damper stop the car on quick bumps. However I feel like the ride is very controlled. No floatiness at all. But I can definitely feel every bump in the road now and sudden small dips are alot louder.
I do like the stance I was able to get from these and the added control. I do a few track days a year but if I didn't Id say they're a little overkill for everyday roads and you should probably just stick to springs.

Im hoping to ride in someone with H&Rs (Designs maybe?) to compare.

KW's are very good. Probably one of the best out there. Mazdaspeed coils are co-designed by KW

Full coilovers will usually always feels stiffer because of the spring rate and the shocks/struts actually dampen/rebound. The MS3's stock shocks are crap.

What are the spring rates for the KW's?

theyre linear at 400 lbs in the front with a helper spring and around 290 progressive in the rear.
Yeah the stock shocks were a little scary sometimes when I hit patchy pavement.

When I haz the money after my go-fast parts, I'm definitely upgrading my BC's with some KW's along with some nice forged wheelzes.

Not bad. Are the spring rates a lot more stiffer for the V2 and V3's?

And yes, the stock shocks are a little scary over some weird bumps.

got them on this weekend. They feel nice driving around town. Did a few spirited runs on the highway. They aren't kindney jarring rough like some other coilovers I've had in the past. Definitely liking the ride with these!

yeah, got to upload and such.

Didn't get one of it slammed cause the tires were hitting the fender. Will roll them when I can get my roller from a friend.
