KLZE engine swap questions

I recently spun a rod bearing and I'd rather not rebuild my engine. I've been looking at swapping a KL ZE into my P5, but it looks like I'd have to keep the USDM ECU if I want to avoid a wiring nightmare of the obd1 conversion. I know that I won't be able to use the potential power of the engine, but does anyone know if this creates any reliability concerns?
