kinda a dilemma

so i'm at a cross roads of sorts with my car situation...next spring i'd like to get a new car (138k now)...but i really wanted to keep the p5 and turn it into a track car, build the engine....for fun and giggles...love the turbo and auto combo (was going to get the lentech "terminator" slush box...good for 300HP)....but then i'm thinking...if i get a miata, i'd rather not drive that in the winter and wouldn't that be a better car to drive/track....so i was thinking of keepeing the p5 for a winter beater (doors/rear hatch are starting to rust away anyway) instead....(blah)....thoughts?

if it became the beater...for sure...i'd sell off all the after market stuff, and all the stock equipment as well...maybe get 1/100 of my money back!!:'( slowtege!

haha...i hate the cold! i'd have to wear a stocking hat to keep my hair (what's left of it) warm! ya, and use the cash from the sale to buy some coilovers and wheels!

That's what I do. Keep a little skullcap hat in the bin and use that whenit's cold. Windows up and the heater a full blast. Nice.

I thought about keeping the P5 but no room for 3 cars.

you could turbo the s*** out of those 1.8L Miata blocks. think about all the turbo fun you're having now, except you will be able to turn up the boost!

I vote Miata and keep the P5 as a winter beater. Keep the P5 until it dies.. how much are you gonna get for it anyway? (selling it...)

haha...i knew i came to the right place for advice! ash, if i sell it i'll call you first...you'd have to do the manual swap though!!
the most likely seniaro is to keep it though, it's not going to be worth anything really and i could use it for winters...i'd hate to get a new or nearly new miata and drive it to watertown up and down 128...boy that road is aweful! how much do you think the turbo, mani, downpipe and fmic is worth? i might be able to get a few grand out of that stuff and the other bolt/glue on's??(uhm) well i have all winter to contemplate and look for a cah!(drive2)

I use my '06 Miata year round, but I don't put the top down below 48 degrees. I hate the cold as well.

You might be surprised at what you would get if you sold the P5. Spend the winter shopping for an MSM and returning the P5 to stock. With the money you make from selling aftermarket parts and the P5 (I'm going to say approx $3k-4k) you can buy a nice FM upgrade kit for the MSM and have some money left over.

And of course if you do part out the P5, I'd like to get on that list of buyers.
