Kickpanel Pods

Hey guys,

Wondering if anybody has come across any kick panel pods for the 3? I have a nice 3-way component set that i'd like to keep intact. I don't really know how popular the 3 is in the audio scene, so this may be a shot in the dark.

I can make my own (haven't come accross any stock ones to cut up yet) so before i went on a quest to find some, thought i'd ask to see if any existed in the aftermarket.

thanks.

As far as I know, only Q-Logic has pre-made kickpods. However, they do not have any for the 3 as of yet. They do have univeersal ones that you can intergrate with the current kick panels. Just go to http://www.qlogic.ws/2003/home/, select "UNIVERSAL" from the dropdown menu under "Q-forms". Since the kickpanels in the 3 look somewhat simple, maybe you can use one meant for a different vehicle with a little modification? Give Q-Logic a call, or maybe ask a local install shop.

Other than that, most installation shops can fabricate something custom for you out of fiberglass or similar material, but it will be pretty pricey.

Good luck.

thanks BrianG.

however, i do not need a shop for help, i am my own shop ;)

I couldn't remember the name...i knew there was a big company out there that made em. For some reason i was thinking Q-Forms were the MTX vehicle specific sub boxes...but those are Thunderforms...so many forms out there...lol

thanks for the link dude.

Maybe it's just the pics, but most of the pods look like the drivers are pointed more at the center of the car, rather than up and at an angle. Maybe the drivers mount on an angle inside, but seems strange.

I seem to remember them looking less like pods and more like panels...they seem pretty obtrusive. Oh well, we'll see what i can come up with.

Yeah, i don't particularly like them either. The idea is to mount them low so the sound waves reach the ears at the same time providing a better stage. but, I don't like music coming from my feet. :) I just used the stock door locations for aftermarket speakers, but kept the factory tweeters hooked up, padded down, just to help bring the sound image up a little, but not enough so I actually hear them. Plus, kickpanels are not a good place to keep speakers in my opinion, unless you are really careful with your feet.

Most of today's semi-high-end aftermarket decks come with some type of time-alignment function to reduce the misalignment problem.
