Keyless entry problem?

I just bought a yellow MP3 and the only problem I have with this car is that the handheld door locking button thing only locks the 3 passenger doors and not the driver's door. I have to manually lock the driver's door. Is that normal? And if not, is it an easy fix?

thats definitely not normal. its prolly something worn out in the lock actuator. someone else that really knows about the lock mechanism can chime in :)

hmm, maybe im wrong but i thought it was a safety feature that u have to lock the drivers door manually. my drivers door has never locked via a button

for real? mine locks. tzar177, has urs never locked since it was brand new?

when i press unlock, the first time i press unlock my driver door unlocks. if i press it again within 5 seconds or so, the other 3 doors unlock

when i press lock, they all lock. press lock again my car honks

well im the second owner. bought summer of 2005. didnt lock then. i got aftermarket alarm installed and still doesnt lock. i thought i had read somewhere here on the boards that its not suppose to lock. maybe it can be wired up differently to get it to lock?

hmm. im the third owner of my car. we'll wait til someone else with an mp3 posts in this thread to see how their locks work lol

I second this that is exactly what mine dose before and after the alarm was installed. I do not know what would cause that at all. It would drive me nuts.

the alarm installers told me they tried all they knew to get it to lock with the button. Guess im just used to maually locking it, altho it would be nicer for it to lock auto. I sometimes accidently press unlock and have to walk back to the car to manually lock it...sigh

even when i use the button on the door itself it only will unlock. It has never locked the drivers lock. Maybe actuator is bad? Anyone else?

I think my driver's door might've been messed with though. The driver's door sounds hollow when I close the door compared to the other three.

have any of you actually taken the door skins off? It's quite probably one of 2 things:
the little metal stick that connects to that thing you pull up to lock the door got disconnected (no idea what it's called), or the lock actuator itself doesn't work. Try that out and let us know!

I took the door skin off. if i checked what i think u were referring to...then yes it is hooked up right. The actuator doesnt do anything when i press lock. I might just buy a new actuator and hope that fixes it. Hopefully the previous owner didnt rewire things so that it wouldnt lock

I have no idea how to do this as I am a complete moron when it comes to "electrics", but isn't there a way to check the wiring to see if the actuator is getting an electric signal?
