Key through the washjing machine

The duffer that I am put the key through the washing machine. I pulled it apart and dried it out, and possibly through good design, may have dodged a bullet - it still works. The electronics and battery is sealed and was dry when I pulled it apart. I pulled the back of and noted that there was a o-ring sealing the battery compartment. With the face cover off, there is a rubber seal - the pink thing. Here are pics for reference. For assembly, the open and lock buttons are unique and cannot be interchanged.

I forgot to take a pic of the valet key, but I unscrewed the little phillips head screw separating the key with a black plastic head, for the want of a better word, from the silver end cap to dry as well but the key is sealed.

ps The CX5 is my wife's car.

It is good to see the inside of the remote has an O-ring around the battery. Thanks for posting the pics. It is good that yours still works. Those remotes are expensive to program, my dealer quoted 1 hour labor ($140.00 usd). They seem to cost over $50.00 used on ebay.
