Key malfunction and liftgate question

I bought a new key fob from a 3rd party, and it works great.... except it tripped something that is causing it to give me a wireless key malfunction everytime the car is started. Is there any way for me to reset that without bringing it in to a shop?

Also, we finally pulled the CX9 into the garage and it is TIGHT. Like REAL tight. No worries, we have a laser to help us park, but it does mean that when the car is in the garage, the liftgate would hit the garage door if opened up fully. I know I can use my hand to stop it before it hits the garage door, but is there any way to just set what height we want it to open to? Or any suggestions for how to handle that besides always stopping it by hand?

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Yes, the opening height can be adjusted, as written in the the owners manual:

CX-9 Owners Manual

Where it states:

"The power liftgate fully-open position can be changed according to the height of a garage.
When changing the position
Stop the liftgate at the desired position.
Press the power liftgate close switch for about three seconds.
A beep sound is activated two times to indicate that the position change has been completed."
