Key in ignition beeping...

Hi I have a 2006 Mazda 3. When I took the key out of the ignition this morning it made the door open key still in ignition beep. Has anyone had this happen? I could not lock the car because of it and had to mess with it a couple times in order for it to stop. I really hate the Mazda dealers in Hawaii...they charge way too much for simple stuff! Can anyone help me? Thank you so much, Mel

What, specifically, did you have to do to get it to stop?

It's a pretty common issue that owners have had for years. There's a little pin or switch inside the ignition that can get stuck or broken. First try putting some lubricant (WD40, dry graphite, etc) on your key then insert and remove it several times and see if that helps. If that doesn't work the cylinder may need to be replaced.
