Recently had a katzskin leather installed in my Mazda 5 and really like the way it came out. I added heated seats as well....New shocks, struts, strut bearings, tires and brakes and it feels like a new car. A rear swaybar is next and maybe some LED headlights...

First off, welcome!

Second, very nice mod. May I ask, how much did it cost and how hard was it to install?

Thanks, I had it professionally installed and it was part of a package I won through a raffle. The kit itself costs about $1200 and install would cost extra. I'm guessing around 2k out the door. The quality of the leather and stitching is impressive and I had them perforate the seat bottoms and cover the door panels to match. It feels like a much more expensive vehicle now but still a practical city/family car.

Looks good but $2K is crazy considering how much this car costs... I'd say just sell the Sport and trade up to a GT and get all of the other goodies (I went from a Sport to a GT). Absolutely agree the leather makes the car MUCH better.

On another note, there are cheaper options.
For 1st gen owners, there is (was) an ebay seller who periodically lists OE leather seat (REAL leather) replacements. IIRC, it was ~$450 for all 3 row + inserts for the door panel.

For 2nd gen owners, there’s a Japanese vendor by the name Clazzio that makes covers for the +’12 Premacy with the jump seat. They have distributers/wholesalers in the US. I “think” US folks can use 90-95% of the same set, just not the jump seat covers but you’ll need to make the two missing arm rest covers (reuse the jump seat). Google “Clazzio and Premacy”.

It a real shame more folks couldn’t pull together to get the order stated for the 1st gen. These covers are awesome. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/show...zio-Seat-Covers-(custom-order)-Need-20-orders

I didn't even know you guys where trying to get a group order on Clazios! I would of definitely be in, but doesn't seem like I would of made a dent. I had them on my Honda Fit, loved them! I'm still going to get leather seats in my car eventually. But mine will be colored, I don't just want black (looks to boring for me).

I agree, if all the money was coming out of my pocket I would have been a little more hesitant but after seeing the results I will definitely consider it on future cars...The look, smell and feel really change the experience in the car and I'm a bit of an OEM snob so I was a little nervous to go to the aftermarket.

On a side note, the KYB shocks and struts I just installed (myself) add to the overall plush experience...I've always been a sports car guy and hard core performance junky so modifying a car for comfort is new to me. Tires, Shocks and new strut bearings made the car much quieter and I am looking forward to our future road trips...

I would be interested in light grey seats, but that price is most definitely out of my range. Not that its a bad price, but for $2K or even $1K I'd get another car. This one's paid for and the primary driver is sick of the clutch pedal.
