k&n air filter - how do you like yours? any problems?

I'm planning on getting a K&N drop in air filter (not the intake system) now that my break in period is done (finally) so I was wondering if there have been any problems when you install the K&N filter. Problems such as electrical/computer issues such as the computer thinks your air filter is out of whack or just ANYTHING!

first, there is no break in period for cars anymore, thats a thing of the past. second k&n filters are s***, as a matter of fact any filter that you have to oil isn't good for the MAF.

Chrissor: What will the oil from a "K&N" style panel air filter do to the MAF. I have had one in my car for the past year without any issues. What would you use in place of a K&N style panel filter? I didn't want to go with a CAI or a SRI either. What is the best drop in style filter?

I've used K&N filters also w/o issue for years. Those that have issue must have over-oiled theirs after cleaning, which can damage the MAF. AEM makes a dryflow filter and there are probably a few others by now.

As long as you oil it on the correct side of the filter (the side away from the MAF) and don't over-oil it, it's fine. Having said that, I have had a couple of air filters (along with the complete intake) that did not require oil (just periodic cleaning), and I prefer them when possible.
