Eff. Hopefully I don't run into something like this with Evan's motor! lol I'm getting it for my p5, and a day or 2 before he pulled it, it started to misfire. I'm getting new plugs, wires and coils though, so hopefully it was just ignition related.

^^Don't worry about Evan's motor, the most common source of misfires on our engines is the coilpacks or the EGR. Simon's problem is a rather special case :P

i wish i had seen this ahead of time so i could have given you this idea earlier. I normally do the same them when checking the head but i use gasoline.

glad you found the problem though

Damn man, good stuff! I just read back like a few pages to get the whole story. I just recently ran into the same problem. But I haven't had the time to check the motor... Damnit.. I hope that's not my problem.. XD I'm glad you got it fixed! I might need to ask you questions in the near future about this. Haha

Lol its not fixed yet, I was going to pull the valves out in class today, but got caught up going an alignment on a toyota camry....man camber bolts are a pain in the ass
Ill be pulling it apart tomorrow though, hopefully the actual seat isnt messed up, then ill just buy another exhaust valve, lap that one, maybe even all of them, and throw the head back on

Well found out whats wrong, pulled the valves out and the valve is toast, but the head is good. Turns out the valve guide is all chewed up and wasnt letting the valve turn, which caused one side of the valve to overheat and warp. New valve and valve guides will be ordered when I get home, then the car will be good to go

That's good news, mate. I bet you're glad you found the problem and that it was minor. Now you can put the P5 back together and have fun with it once again. And post some video! I want to hear what it sounds like while riding around.

I guess not...

picked up my head gasket from mazda today, also need to order an exhaust valve and a full set of guides/seals once i get paid tomorrow.
Also im pretty much almost 100% sure im not going to run the vette wheels anymore, im tired of being super low, normal low would be fine :D. Gonna ask the parts manager at work about a set of 18"s sitting around outside, i really love these wheels, nothing flashy, just clean
Would have to have them redrilled but thats no big deal
