Just Recieved Ground Control Coilovers

They use a hex allen wrench to tighten the perch and loosen. You jack up the car, loosen the perch, turn the perch up or down, retighten and lower. Very simple and easy.

that would be true if the car wasn't as low as mine. if they're set all the way low you do need to take off the wheels becase there's no way to get to the perches.

(first) spank you, this mod is 100% my favorite ever. i get looks and performance (i usually don't care about aesthetics but this is swesome) wheels should be on tomorrow.

dayum... thats s**** allmost as low as the K-Sports on my car right now. The thing is friggin dumped. Looks VERY NICE DUDE! Congrats.

man all these great responses, thanks so much guys, i got a problem though, my front suspension was making noise, i figured outwhat it was, my shock is about 3mm away from my bump stop so it's tapping and making noise. when it's wet out it doesn't doit because the water slightly lubricates the point where they meet, i'm gonna try some heavy grease but if that doesn't work i guess i'm ust gonna either cut the bumpstops more or get rid of them alltogether. any suggestions?

I am getting very interested in getting these....but i have a question.

Did you get an alighnment after putting these on? also do you just keep it at the lowest setting all the time.

I would probably want to be pretty low, so would i just set it for how i want then get an alignment? Because i don't want to kill my tires with a lot of camber.

I'm thinking about making them pretty low for the summer then raising them back up for the winter.

Thanks.

Can you post a link to the particular GC's that you got? Maybe from their website or something? Thx dood. Also, where did you get that front lip?

yeah thanks to sam at crossover i have these puppies. unfortunately it was their last set. you should check out their website though they have a lot of good MSP stuff. no i haven't gotten it aligned yet but it doesn't pull at all and i didn't notice any major camber difference, this is due to the suspension geometry of the msp that doesn't let it camber so much.

The reason your car is handling so well is because when you are turning your suspension is resting on the bumpstops and basically impersonating a very high spring rate. This is pretty horrible for the strut life. If you cut the bumpstops or remove them completely you're going to notice that the car has a lot more roll in it since it isn't using the bumpstops like springs and it will definitely start to kill your struts. You can run these the way you have them, and lots of people do this all the time, but if you want to maintain proper handling characteristics then you'll need to get some stiffer springs (I'm running 375lbs front and 450lbs rear...the GC stock springs are 350lbs front and 200lbs rear) to keep the shock from bottoming out and you'll need to raise the height a little so that you'll have some suspension travel incase you are cornering hard and something upsets the suspension mid corner. If you are already on the bumpstops when you are turning and you hit a big enough bump the only thing that can absorb the bump is the tire and tires like to bounce...causing a loss of traction. This is all extreme case scenario type stuff and really doesn't come into play in a normally driven street car, but I just want you to be aware of potential problems that might come up with the setup you have right now.

Proteges are being totalled left and right and I would hate to see your's end up the same way.

that had to be one of the most insightful posts i have evr read. yeah i was aware of much of that but that put it in very easy temrs for me. the GC's are mostly temporary. next year i plan on getting a K sport or maybe even some tein SS or something. but for now these will do fine. they feel really good though and i don't mind it all all since the hard driving i do is mostly on the way to my girlfriend's house (like this 30 second streatch of long sweepy 80mph turns.) if i decide to stay with the GC's i will get shocks that are much more suited for the lowness.

Word. I ran a GC setup under the exact same circumstances as you for several monthes before I got heavier springs. The car handled great as long as the road was smooth. If you know the roads well and can anticipate the bumps, if there are any, then you'll be ok. Sometimes my replies about suspension tuning seem a little overbearing and parental in nature, but it's all for good. I just hate to see people run into the same problems that I have without warning.

i was considering getting these, but would i just be better going with the sportlines and saving about $150.

I want the car to be lower and still handle good.

what u mean by stiffer springs just out of curiosity? what would you recommend because don't they come with eibachs out of the box?

yes the GC springs are eibach and they're much stiffer, but i think he means even STIFFER than those thatcome with the GC's i dunno, can you clarify? i thought my GC spring rates were close to those you mentioned you were running rightno, at leastin the front, although trust me i could be/have been many times mistaken.
