Just ordered Catz HID 4500K!

i just ordered my 4500K HID kit (of cource i used the MazdaMP3 coupon, heh). Total came out to about $450. I saw mypfizzle's pics n stuff from a long time ago. but im still a little confused. on the pasenger(sp?) side light, how do you sqeeze the bulb into the housing cuz its kinda a tight fit with the stuff just behind the light opening.

Also, is the intall relativly easy? i plan on doing it myself and i hear the bijou n mypfizzle did it themselves and said it wasnt too bad. but im a little stuck on how to secure the ignitors n balasts

any advice is welcome, thanks

I installed mines a month ago, this is the first time doing this, and it took me 4 1/2 hours by myself. The most diffcult is where to put the ballest, and ignitor. Also you will notices that the factory bracket will NOT secure the hid capule, cause the H7 has a adoptor at the end. What i did was cut the factory H7 adoptor to fit the Hid capule. here's a link of what i'm talking about. And Good Luck on your install.

yea i found that instalation guide on the liteswap site but it was kinda lacking in detail. Im gonna take a lot of pictures of my install and possibly write up a HOW TO. but about the gap problem for the stock clips, I really dont want to dremel out my stock connecter/adapter thing. I think im gonna go with what litewap suggested and use the washer. Will these plastic washers melt though? theyre made out of rubber, and i know it gets hot under there.

liteswap? any comments?

its easy. -=) we used all the stock stuff. except for the plates we used to mount the ballasts on.. you can feel free to pm me with any questions and if u need it ill shoot u my cel number.
Im up in sac too.. so if u ever make it up this way an u need some help.. bring the beer an well take good care of u -=)
sorry my pics werent very detailed.. everything went real easy except for finding places to mount the ballasts and ignitors at.
my advice? follow my setup using the plates and pop rivits to hold the ballasts on.. but before u pop rivit it.. use a lil 3m outdoor adhesive tape under each one just for good measure -=)

hey Zacky, got your order and will get it shipped out tomorrow.

The washers should be fine, the HID capsule actually runs cooler than a halogen. I do not forsee a problem with them.

mypfizzle, what did you do for your retaining clips?

If there is enough demand.. I might just have to start buying some bulb holders from Mazda and gut them out and send them w/ the kits :)

Would you guys pay an extra $15 or so for this? or would most of you guys just gut out your existing holders?

thanks so much mypzfizzle, you kick ass dude. thanks to everyone else for the input. Im sure ill have questions so ill PM you. I assume that its being shiped out from maryland, and im in soCal, so i figure it will be here for sure by the end of the week meaning ill install this weekend coming up.

About like pop rivt. wouldnt this require to drill a hole through the metal frame? never really done it before so go easy on me. I was figuring i could just use existing bolt locations and 3M double. tape, kinda like you did (i think). Since i dont have the kit i cant really get into detail, soo ill be sure to ask you this weekend. Thanks again for all the input, ill go pick up some of those washers too.

peace

hid kit

the rivits go into holes already on the balast. they looked like screw holes so thats kinda what we used them for. we didnt drill any holes in the car either we used the 2 metal plates that came included in the catz kit. we then mounted them on existing screws in the car (we did have to use a drill to carve out the grooves out a lil to make them fit on the screws but not much was required.) the 3m tape we used under it just to be sure.
heres a fuzzy pic of the pop rivits to give u an idea. ill take a better one tomarrow its midnight.

as far as i remember it fight right in. and they are snug. i actually went outside and looked. we just bent the clip a little bit.
let me know if u have any more questions.
