Just got reckless

Damnit!! this month can't get any worse. My brakes went out, car got towed, rearend and now reckless, thats not even right.

My roomate was behind me and he drives like a jackass so they spotted him quickly, and I was doing about 10 mph over the limit. We were just pulling into my house when they got us. Cop (campus cop no less!!!!) pulls us over for "racing"!! F*ck that!!! Threatens to take both our cars!!

I talked him down to reckless, but what a jackass. Anybody know how bad reckless is in Va? I am a texas boy and we don't have a points system yet.

I can't wait for court.

Reckless driving in VA is no joke. My dad had to get a lawyer and go to court because there was the risk of jail. He was doing a little over 20 above the limit and they gave him reckless driving over that. Don't get caught in VA man!

Yep Reckless in VA is harsh now days, saw most get 600 fine, 6 points, 60 day suspension and up to 90 in jail which they suspended all but like 5-10 of that. They even sent a old women away!!!!!! Hopefully the judge is not as strict this time or you can get it talked down more.

I believe the Law is, if you are doing 20 over the limit or over 80mph in any zone(65 or 70) thats automatic wreckless...If you were honestly only doing 10 over, then I dunno(dunno)

20+ over speed limit= automatic Reckless
Reckless ticket= automatic Court apperance
Then who knows, I have had friends that have had suspended driving license b/c of a reckless ticket. I have also had friends who got a reckless for speeding, but it was his first ticket, so they just sent him to driving school. I have been lucky not to get a reckless myself (knock on wood)

I am going to go to a driver improvement course before court. I've heard that helps.

yeah i made a cry eye post about my speeding ticket for going 37 over. and then i heard protege peeps in VA can get tossed in the slammer for excessive speeding aka wreckless driving.

i live in WI and fortunately i don t face anything more than a $336 fine, 15 day license suspension, 6 point demerit. i haven t had court yet which is not til nov 11th. i ll be there for sure to try and work something out with the DA. it s my first ticket ever so maybe i ll get another lucky break in court. i m already lucky the sheriff cut me a SPEEDING ticket rather than a wreckless. he saw that i was passing a full size pickup that started speeding on me and then all of a sudden i m going 92 in a 55 and barely clearing the trucks front bumper. i could have a crashed into cruiser head on traveling in the oncoming lane.

i thought about enrolling in a traffic safety course which would only merit back 3 points on my license at the most. i still need to talk to the sheriff in person about what he will say for me in court and what i should say to help the judge reduce the sentence.

so now i m also worried when my insurance policy renews how much the premium will increase. i wonder how long one has to maintain a clean driving record for the premium to decrease to a normal rate. anybody know?

That sucks. I got caught last week here in Toronto doing 52km/hr over and was given an automatic court date, which is on Nov. 10th. Usually anything over 50km you are given an automatic 30 day suspension, but the cop luckily only gave me speeding and told me to show up early to court and they would reduce it further for me.

Just got back from court. Could not be more pissed. Plead not guilty, roomate got his dropped to speed and I got reckless. Cop straight lied telling the judge that I hit 65 mph in less than 100 feet of road and that I had passed several cars. He also mentioned that I was street racing but didn't have enough to bring up those charges so he'd shoot for whatever else he could get. Judge was reasonably nice, but this cop is the worst person I have ever met in my life. I am going to meet with him asap and let him have a piece of mind.
