Just Got My P5 Tinted A Week Ago And A Possible Problem Already

I got my windows tinted from what I had heard was a pretty reputable shop with decent rates, plus they warrant their work for as long as you own the car.

At the top of my window on a few of my windows I have bubbling already where it looks like the tint just didnt adhere.

On to my question. I remember when going to pick it up he said to give it a few weeks to fully adhere to the window and i remember he said that there might be some spots and hazing for the first few weeks but cant remember if he said that bubbles were common for the first few weeks or not. I remember him mentioning the weather and how cold it was it would take it a lot longer for the window tint to fully adhere so I was just wondering if bubbles are common right after the work has been done or if i should take it back to the guy to have him redo it. I hope i didnt choose the wrong shop to have this done at

This is fine, there's just some water under the film. It will dry up in a couple of days, assuming you just got it done.

Mine did the same thing.

yeah. it'll be fine. and if it's still there after 2 weeks, then go back and and get it redone for free. happened to me also.

well i remember him telling me not to roll down the windows for the first few days and then to give them 2-3 weeks to fully cure or something like that

Are the bubbles white from the outside? If so, then you are correct, there was something on your window (like a piece of trash or lint) that caused the tint to not adhere. Take it back & have them redo it. Could also be that they got the tint too close to the top of your window. If it's cold outside it takes about 2 weeks for your tint to fully cure, parking it in the sun will help this.

ill give it another week or so and see, the bubbles are kind of white, its really hard to say since im inside and its dark outside, id say they are closer to clearish than white. The most obvious ones are right along the top of the window, some arent even noticeable without rolling down the window. ill try to take pics before work tomorrow morning if i have time

i had 1 small bubble on my window for almost 3 weeks. it went away, although it didn't help that i never parked it in the sun.

if the tint shop was a decent one, you shouldnt have to wait for it to cure. what they SHOULD do, but i rarely see done (except by the guy thats gonna tint my car who works for himself) is use a heat gun. which he uses to soften the tint and make it adhere to the glass.
ask the tint shop if they have a heat gun

^^ i disagree abit.. no matter what, it still takes about a week to cure up.. its not so much about curing, but about letting the moisture inbetween the tint and window to dry...... and letting it do it slowly is what will help the tint get rid of the small little bubbles...

^^thats what im talkin about. ive watched this guy work, hes got about 3 different squeegees that he uses to get every bubble out, and while he does that hes using a heat gun to evaporate any moisture left on the glass. when its done it looks factory. i have never seen tint done that well, the man is a pro.

if it doesnt go away and i have to take it back in i may just ask him for a refund because it will end up costing them if they put it back on again and do a poor job. I also figured a place that offered a lifetime warranty would put the care and effort into it the first time because thats where theyll lose theyre money when they have to retint for free.

they'll probably take off your tint before you get a refund. hold out for another week or so. if you don't see the bubble getting smaller, then ask them to do it again.

well i mean id want it taken off anyways so i can get my money and take it somewhere else to be redone. but ill wait till the holidays are over and then evaluate the situation?

another thing i thought of is i dont want to have to deal with them to do it again if they dont go away because they didnt speak very good english, that was my mistake for not waiting it out but from what id heard they were good but the guy didnt really speak decent english and made the process hard in the first place. bad customer service

take a hair dryer and a a squeegee and squeeze the bubble out. just heat up the tint where the bubble is a lil bit and run the squeegee over it.
you might have to do that for the whole window since it seems like this wasnt done in the first place. just make sure the tint is smooth all the way over. if you dont feel comfortable doin that yourself, then yea id take it back

I wouldn't get it redone at another shop. They might use a different manufacturer of tint & it might not match the same. Unless you are talking about getting the whole car redone.

tint takes awhile to dry, just park it in the sun.. DO NOT put a blow dryer or heat gun to it... do not...

if i was you just call the shop or swing back by.. its better to be safe then sorry... if its a messup they will redo it...

i work at a tint shop, dont worry, mistakes do happen.. im pretty sure its just moisture trapped inbetween teh film and glass...
