Just got back from Dragstrip in Ontario

I just ran my car at Sparta, Ontario where I ran:

This is with my mods below, no spare, no jack,
Sunoco 94 octane , no boost gauge so I don't know what psi.
About 60 degree weather , very sticky track.
I put ice bags on the motor for an hour, and with the stock tires set to 35psi front 45psi rear.

Mazdaspeed fans come out of the woodwork when you run low 14's.....

Joe P MBC & FP Reducer are the only power mods I've done.
The boost gauge is on order , has been for 2 weeks, come on Autometer!
Jesus Christ I just did the simple HP calculator I was making 225 HP at 2950 lbs of car weight.

Great track times but you are going to blow your engine to bits if you don't get a boost gauge to make sure you are safely boosting. Be careful(nervous)

No boost gauge before you turn up the boost? No offense, it's great time, but unless u like driving in the dark without lights, this is what you're doing with out a boost gauge. I would hate another MSP to blow its engine. just be careful please and pray often. But hot damn, with only a boost gauge and fpr u'r running a 14.2 nice time, sounds like a up and coming speedster, hehe

Thanks for the concern boys, but I obviously have is set below 10 psi, I have never hit the fuel cut, and there is not a hint of detonation. The boost gauge is on order!

I dont believe you.. I think I just said what many are thinking.. hate me if you will.. but with a simple boost controler and fp reducer, you will not be running 14.2's.. sorry.. unless your boost is set at like 18psi.. which it could be seeing as how you have no boost gauge..

Umm..the fuel cut is not PSI-based..its based on airflow..this has been discussed many times.

um, the autometer boost gauge sucks. Mine is off by like 1, sometimes 2 psi!

If it is, i find that the left lane is much gripper then the right lane for some strange reason. 14.2 is possible with a your weight estimate.

I'm a true believer in the phrase "You gotta see it to believe it"...Now, I'm not gonna go off the handle and say he is lying, but anyone can show you a peice of paper...I mean, if JoeP himself has only hit a 14.2, I don't see anyone matching him. Joe even had the full exhaust, different plugs, and 14 psi. I'm not gonna call:bs: but maybe someone else will...

I am sure it has alot to do with the cold, if he ran in 60 degrees most likely it was at night, and then the humidity was low, I feel a huge difference in mine here in toronto when its cool, feels like someone upped the boost again

How can you possibly run over a half second faster ? not knowing your Boost level, the 10 degree temp diff woulnd not do it, and the track I ran was exceptionally sticky, with my tires at 20 PSI for more contact to the track.

I will scan my time slips, and ask you, please post yours. seeing as we had the same mods when we ran.

Well boys I kinda thought that would get a reaction.

2K3 Mazdaspeed & Superspud - believe whatever you want. People in the stands didn't believe me and they were watching it live. They came over to say holy s*** after I ran. I was expecting a 14.9 @ 95 so I was astounded as well.

Limited Edition - yes it was at St Thomas Dragway and in the left lane. It was also close to the end of the night, the sun had gone down and I had let the car cool off for almost two hours with ice bags on the engine.

Boostisgood - I don't know what to say, maybe not enough pressure in your tires? What kind of weather were you running in? I was launching it really hard, wheelspin was not a problem. I was holding the revs at about 4000 then easing it to the floor in first. I shifted to second close 7000, then 2-3, 3-4 were at 6500rpm. I left the air filter in as well, I heard that removing it can confuse your Mass air sensor. Did you mean you took yours out or put on a cone K&N?
