Just got a MS6 2006..few questions

First of all I want to say thanks. This forum has been helpful for answering most of my questions.

One of the things I was interested in was the Recall that reflashes your ecu to prevent it from going into 33% power mode and pinging. I have not ad the chance to go over the records of my car because I am currently deployed, but when I get home (4 weeks!) and do go over them. If it has had it great. If not the car only has a littl over 5000 mile till the warrranty expires. Should I go ahead and get the ECU reflashed or if it hasnt happeend ths far then it wont happen? "I plan on running the preimeum fuel if that makes a difference"

I am also going to go with a rear engine mount once the warranty expires. I have researched a few. What is the one known to be the best?

It has a mazda installed Mazdaspeed CAI. I am wanting to pair that up with a Cobb TIP. Are there any fit problems there or is it just and OEM replacement and not have to be paired with a Cobb SRI?

When it comes around to changing the spark plugs..why is it a good choice to go one step colder and what spark plug is one step colder?

Welcome to the forums, glad you have found some info that you needed.

The MS CAI and the Cobb TIP mate up fine together, I am currently running that setup and having no issues.

For the rear mount, I'd recommend the AWR. It costs less, but that does not make it less of a product. There's no reason why you should wait till after your warranty expires, it's a tough part to notice and shouldn't be an issue.

For spark plugs, it's either stock or the Denso ITV22s, which are one step colder. I wouldn't worry about plugs unless you start getting fairly far along with the bolt ons (TIP, CAI, test pipe, etc.).

After doing the reasearch I see that if it dosent have the reflash dont do it. But more than likely it does because the service was done at a Mazda dealer. I am ready to get going now. Ill kepp ya updated in the future

my techs noticed the motor mount as soon as they lifted the car, so its not that inconspicuous, if everything else is unpolished alloy and then you get a glossy black and red or shiny ass SU and its pretty easy to spot against a used engine bay.

Did they hassle you about it or do anything in regards of your warrenty?

not at all, but i specifically have a mazda dealership that i became friends with so this is rare. also directly from the Manager and Servive Supervisors, when it comes down to it: "anything before the engine, and after the factory cats is ok with Mazda USA", and they cannot ethically or legally void your warranty because of it.

You are wrong. They can and in some cases will void your warranty as a result of something like that. Just because they didn't for you, doesn't mean that they can't.

You've found a dealership that likes you, I strongly suggest that you keep going to them and enjoying their generosity.

This is why I don't bother modding cars any more. Buy something that's fast enough from the factory and you won't have to change anything. My old car always caused eye rolls at the dealership since they knew it was modded. But they happily took my money...


Anyways, I would get the flash done. My guess is they'd still do it if you're out of warranty though.

I never understand when they decline warranty work. They bill it somewhere else anyway, why turn down the money. You are only hurting the dealership. A customer will let the dealer fix whatever they want under warranty, but when it's my cash I'm going to be picky as s***.
