Well, I just bought an entire engine/tranny setup off ebay. Please list all the things I should do to it before I bolt up a turbo and swap it in. I already plan on cleaning it, putting in an LSD, clutch, etc. What else?

Yes, definitely rebuild the bad boy. Get forged goodies and go like .020" overbore. Port everything you can; I'd stay NA, but thats' up to you.

True....sorry, wasn't thinking.

Yeah, bore it out and boost it. See if you can somehow reinforce the block and maybe stress relieve the block as well to help eliminate as much chance of stress cracks or anything catastrophic occuring..

But what's the purpose of getting forged ints if you only go NA?

If you are going to build a crazy NA engine, forged internals are just as important as with a Turbo...you have to raise the compression and rev to make power NA (despite better breathing and everything else)...The increased compression stress, and rod tolerance stress mixed with a bad tank of gas makes an expensive grenade...

You guys are for the most part right though...You can't build a extremely powerful FS NA with out spending more than you did on your car...you can get as much as 185-190whp with an FS, NA and still be streetable, and with that the compression and engine speeds will not be too much for the stock bottem end...Plus it is extremely expensive to make even more 15 more hp than that without even factoring in the cost of forged internals...

the FS has a shortbore spacing, overboring should be avoided at all costs to prevent block weakening

oh yeah that too...doesn't the "S" in FS stand for "short"? I vaguely remember that...the gains you would achieve would be harldy enough to justify the cost anway...

which is why I only wanna do a port and polish with maybe some valve work...

again this is long term but it is nice getting the info now.

if i was going to do it..id go port and polish, 5-angle job, forged rods, forged 8:1 pistons, ALL AR|P bolts and studs, 4-injector intake manifold, clutch, flywheel, LSD, strengthened shift forks, and a piggyback

What is a 5-angle job and what do you mean by 4-injector intake? You mean, don't have auxiliaries by the TBs?
