I just bought a new subwoofer today...a JBL 1000 watt sub....how do i put it in? theres the red and black wire on the new sub so im assuming i disconnect my Bose subwoofer that came with my CX-9....should i go to a garage and if so how much would it cost approximatly

Thank you

Never worked on the bass box. however the CX-9 bas box should have 4 wire connecting (2 from the rear speaker LH, and 2 from the rear speaker RH). The PINK (-) and blue/green are from the LH speaker, the grey(-) and brown from the RH speaker. It looks that the bass box only uses the LH speaker information. So you should be able to connect for teh speaker signal between pink and blue/green.

i don't think it runs from the same output as the rear speakers, it should be a separate output with a low pass filter.

remove the stock sub, it should only have the two terminals like your new speaker. now figuring out which is positive and which is negative will hopefully be self explanatory, if mazda was nice.

I agree. Normally you would expect a low pass filter and maybe that is in the stock subwoofer. The workshop manual shows the wiring going as I indicated.

Subwoofer are speakers designed to reproduce low frequencies in the range of 20hz to 200hz. I don't know if you want to just replace the speaker but the subwoofer amplifier as well, just let me know and I will give you instructions (I'm Audio Engineer). Regards.
