2013 CX-9 Grand Touring
Its a 2013 Grand Touring AWD. I had never considered a Mazda before,we looked at every mid sized cross over with 3rd row seating and the CX-9 seemed like an easy choice after considering features, price and reputation. I have a question, is there a compass on this vehicle? Am I missing a button? I need a compass!!!! (dunno) I thought it was supposed to be on the mirror, lots of buttons but i can't make a compass light up.

Welcome & congrats on your purchase!

If you have the auto dim & compass mirror, the compass should be on when the car's on. However, if there is a power button, press the power button. And if that doesn't work, then I dunno. I DO know that there are a couple mirrors out there that have auto dim, but no compass.

I bought a used autodim mirror from a salvage yard one time, that was off a cx-9. The mirror arrived and was the Gentex mirror, and looked exactly the same as what I've got now, but there was no compass in the upper right corner. I didn't know that was even a possibility.

Needless to say I took it back. Found a guy on here (mazdas247) that had one and sold me his since he was selling his cx-9, and it's the right one with the compass in the upper right corner.

Either you have the mirror with no compass, or maybe there's a wiring issue? You should have a green light on the bottom of the mirror while the car is turned on. When you press one of the homelink garage door buttons, the light turns red while you press the button.

Let me know.

We have a loner today while the dealer takes care of a couple of minor issues with our CX-9. This one is a 2014 CX-9 GT and it has no compass on the mirror either. I researched the parts available a little this evening, it looks like there is no way to have a compass in the mirror if you have the windshield wiper sensor in the mirror...seems dumb! Maybe I'm wrong I'll ask the dealer about it when we pick up our CX-9 tomorrow.

my 2013 GT cx-5 with homelink/autodim also lacks a compass. (However I have gps so it would just be redundant.

I have a rain sensor and mirror with compass/autodim/homelink. The only difference is the install kit. 2 different plastic boxes depending on if a rain sensor is there.

I don't think this is true. My Lexus has both rain sensing wipers and a compass--both in the mirror and as a feature in the nav system. The company that makes the auto dimming mirror makes models with the compass, but I just don't think that Mazda offers them (cost cutting measures?). My '12 does not have it. I would think you could buy one aftermarket and install it, if you really want one.

You guys, here is my Mazda mirror install thread. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123824699-Some-pictures-of-my-Homelink-mirror-install

The mirror is Part# 000 8C Z02

If you call Mazda parts and give them that part number, they will tell you that is not a valid part number.
Well, the 0008CZ02 mirror is THE "fully loaded" "accessory" mirror that Mazda sold. They may not sell it anymore, I don't know.
What I DO know is that at least in 2008, if you opted for this mirror with your build package, you got the 0008CZ02 mirror.

If you don't believe me, here is the part:

Now this fits the Mazda 3 without rain sensor.
But for the CX-9, it fits with OR without rain sensor. BUT you have to buy the right install kit. One install kit is WITH rain sensor, and one install kit is WITHOUT rain sensor.

I don't know what Mazda is using now though.
