2008 Mazdaspeed 3 Sunlight Silver GT
We already know this but thought it was a good read. Interesting what they thought about the stock dyno numbers though. Is that the normal dyno numbers for a stock speed3?

"On its maiden run on MD Automotive's Dynojet dynamometer, the MAZDASPEED3 laid down 241.22 horsepower and 269.94 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. According to Mazda, the MAZDASPEED3 is rated at 263 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Either the MAZDASPEED3 has extremely low driveline loss (8 percent) or Mazda has significantly underrated the power output of the engine. Since we've never seen a driveline that efficient, it's many times more likely that the MAZDASPEED3's engine actually produces closer to 284 horsepower at the flywheel in stock form. "

i found it weird when i did my dyno run (stock with drop-in k&n air filter) and was getting like 250-255hp. ppl thought it was great (most had no idea what the numbers were) but were dumbfounded when i told them the engine output was 263hp.

What were the final numbers after the tbe install and dyno?

I have the actual magazine laying around here somewhere. I know this is step one of a two step process. They are coming back to add more parts and review.

I dont believe all dynos are not created equal and therefore will not produce the same results

Thats correct, I can't remember the different dyno mfg's but it seems mustangs read higher if I remember right (could be wrong its been awhile) but I can remember dynoing my buddies car (7 years ago now) and on one dyno it pulled 224hp and then the next week 238hp (different dyno similar air conditions), guys at the shop said its not uncommon for there to be 4 to 6 and in some cases 7 or 8% differences between dynos.

mustang dynos always read lower than everyone else. Everyone else corrects HP for different factors, but a true mustang dyno wont.

I am thinking about taking mine to Agile Auto here in Maryland for a dyno. They use the dynapack which is supposed to be much more accurate since its hub power. It eliminates the inconstancies of tie downs and the wheels on the rollers.

You're correct, I called my buddy and asked him if his car dyno'd higher on the mustang dyno or the dynojet, he said it dynod higher on the dynojet. He also went on to say "remember Jason and his Z28? his was the same way, everyone dyno'd less on the mustang dyno"

Sorry its been awhile :hs:

o its all good dude, its not always the easiest to keep up wit what dyno does what, i think its kinda ridiculous there is more than one to be honest. its got to the point were a dyno really means nothing, because they are all different.

ehh yea, but at the same time it does show you get something, and you may only get 4 peak HP, but i mean i didnt see the dyno graph to show what the overall gain was. You may see a more broad power band, and i no for me it wasent only for the power, the sound and also no droan factor got my buy, my stock was horrible for highway droan.
