hard to believe she is almost 10 years old.

Never been in an accident. Almost 0 rust. Under body is in better shape than my newer mazda6

I bought the car new and cannot imagine selling it, especially after nights like tonight.

Spinning into 3rd gear, laughing as I fly by my friends new SI, smiling like the joker and thinking of all the great times I have had in the car.

Thanks to the people of msprotege.com, toprotege.com and clubprotege.com for the years of good advice and help with finding new/replacement parts. I wonder if she will go another 10 years..

im on my 2nd EGT trans in 2.5 years.

When this one eventually goes out I plan to put in the bullet proof toyota e153 FWD transmission using my nice adapter plate. Hoping to do the trans swap at the same time as the GTR bottom end. That will pretty much wrap up the project.

Not sure when that will happen as the current motor seems very strong and does not leak/burn oil and the current EGT trans still shifts like new.

Nice build!!! I'm not sure if this has been metioned yet or not, This is a lot to read and remember but what launch control are you using??

it is a built in feature of my megasquirt setup.

here is a link to the company that builds them with harness adaptors for plug and play applications. If you are interested in a MS unit contact Lex on feoa.net or clubprotege.com

I run MS1 but it looks like they do MS2 plug and play now too for the OBD-1 EGT harness

Nothing but good things to say about Lex he has been very helpful.

they also do pnp for KL engines, so for people who swap a v6 into their protege and use the kl harness you can plug and play these units as well.

of course the day after I put my winter rims and tires on the car I pull the trigger on a new set of summer wheels.

my fiance decided she was unhappy with the oem rims on her mazda6, so I gave her my 17" mazda3 gt wheels, bought her some brand new all seasons and then picked these rims up for next summer.

they are K speed brand. I think they are like 5 years or more old, but all look to be in decent shape with mounted 215/45/17s..might throw em on just to see how they look mounted later this week. Still trying to find specs about the rims somewhere online, seller did not know the details. they require hubcentric rings and came with a set of tuner lugs. trying to source some blue anodized tuner lugs to replace the chrome ones that came with the rims.

MS Shadow Dash install is on the way!

10.2" android tablet ordered. Should be here by December.

This is gona kick ass. Uses bluetooth to connect wirelessly MS to either an android tablet or phone! Can view all gauges, load tunes etc.

Can use tuner studio to design my own custom gauges etc. Can do datalogging and gauges on screen at same time etc. Even has accelerometer and speedometer data.

sooooo happy I have MS for my EMS. Easy to tune and lots of cool free/inexpensive software. Nothing expensive to buy and very easy to use!

got the ms shadow dash hooked up today.

it uses bluetooth to connect my megasquirt to my phone or my tablet. it is awsome. probably the coolest setup i have ever played with. config is as easy as pairing any bluetooth device.

Everything is wireless.

I get in my car and slap either my android phone or my android tablet into mount behind steering wheel.

Launch the app, start the car and it goes. Refresh rate is really good and smooth.

GPS speed data is accurate. Everything works even better than I thought it would.

Then when I pull over and pop my hood I pull out the tablet and can have it right there in the engine bay with me while im making adjustments.

It datalogs my runs (including GPS data).

It uses my phone built in G meter and I can see how hard I am pushing the car.

It is a free app and I am still mind boggled that it works this good.

All I can say is A+

I might have a BP Protege valve cover I would be willing to ship your way if you cover the shipping costs. Same style as your current, but says Mazda instead of Ford.

gonna have to check this app out.

any pics of the setup?

i am contemplating ditching the AFC and going megasquirt...any specs on the one you have on the car? i'm on the FSDE by the way

SWEET. I bought a Nexus 7 with the intention of molding it into my MSP radio bezel and one day monitor and control my MSII from the dash. Sounds like we are getting there. Any pics?
