As reported by Kuruma News, a group of five Japanese Mazda dealers decided to do a run of these green Miatas.

They look great in green! I agree that Mazda needs more "fun" colours for the sporty compacts. A new yellow and green would be awesome. There's a clear trend shown in the pic below..

I also think the new Melting Copper Metallic from the 70/90 would look great on the Miata.

There indeed is a clear trend of reduced paint options in newer cars, and more paint quality issues (Like significant orange peel on the clear-coat finish)
I've consistently maintained that a green much like the shade which that MX-5 was finished in, a Crimson red, or even a Daytona violet (Think BMW E34 M5 as shown below) With a cinnamon brown interior finish would be my dream color combination - If it's on the right car.

Since we are on the topic of MX-5, I was delighted to find out that I sort-of fit into an MX-5 (With the roof down, seat all the way back against the rear trunk divider). It was the most delightful, stock handling vehicle I ever drove.

Hunt around for a good-condition 1996 Miata M-Edition. With its Starlight Mica Blue metallic paint and a black-and-tan interior, it might "move" you. Had one, some years back. Beautiful car.

Now and then, a fairly low-mileage example turns up. But, being 30yr old cars, now, most have a decent bunch of mileage on them. And the "cream puffs" are going for a fair chunk of change, these days.

The thing about the Starlight Mica Blue paint is that it effectively shifts shades of color in different kinds of light. From almost black with faint purplish highlights on the edges of the curves that face the sun, to an almost paler medium blue in cloudy conditions, to a brilliant deep purple with splaches of purplish/blackish mica along the edges of the curves when the sun is fairly high in the sky.

While the interior might be a bit more tan than your preferred cinnamon (or even baseball glove brown), it's fairly close.

Good combination, in a Miata.

I believe it was a 2023-meaning it would fall into ND3? But it only had like 5000km on it... So perhaps I mixed up the year with another car.

If they sell quick, maybe it will get Mazda's attention and they'll consider doing some vibrant colors for the Miata. Longshot but if these dealers are willing to get the ball rolling it could become reality.

I'd go green before yellow but Mazda can take my money if they bring back mariner (smurf) blue or winning blue to the ND!

I'm on the fence with the melting copper metallic. I've seen it in person on the 70 at the dealer and really like it but afraid that after a few months the 'novelty' would wear off and I'd hate it.

A nice deep purple like that would be great too! But instead of cinnamon brown, give me the white/parchment interior.

Machine Gray Metallic looks amazing on the ND. I'm sure the Melting Copper would, too.
