...So it's just about the weekend here and I feel like doing a little work on the ol' Speed6. The problem is, I have nothing to install and very little money to devote at this time. Which brings me to the crux of this particular thread:

I want to know all the cheap mods that you've done or can be done to your 6i/6s/Speed6. The only requirements are that it has to cost less than fifty bucks and it the whole process cannot take more than 48 hours.

Oh, and it has to be tasteful. I would hope that we're all past that high school phase of removing random pieces of the interior and spray-painting them some "awesome" color...

For example, a couple weekends ago, I debadged the "Mazdaspeed6" from the rear end. Total cost: half a penny for the length of dental floss and less than fifteen minutes of labor.

What else we got?

smoked side/rear reflectors

total cost $15 for a can of niteshades, time 30-45 minutes

gut stock airbox

total cost nothing, time about an hour

Brake light mod (all 4 lights come on when pedal is pressed)

Cost: <$5 for splicing and electrical tape
Time: 30 minutes

Car looks better with all of the rear light barrels coming on at a stop light. Pull the trunk lining, and tap the 3rd brake light for a signal. Bulbs are already dual filament. How-to is in the how to section in here.

A good hand wash and two coats of wax. Not a mad, persay, but you won't be disappointed when you're all finished!

I'm installing my GROM aux mod this evening after work and putting in some new foglights, as well.....might even install the Cobb TIP that has been sitting in my trunk for 4 weeks. Good luck!

blacking out your emblems..theres a how to on it..maybe 8 bucks for a can of spray paint. light even coats..i did 3.. reward urself with a beer afterwards because its the weekend!!!!

oooh i like the beer mod. i think i will do this mod many times this evening

Home Depot Lip. (Use the How-to)
Less than $25 and 45 minutes of work.

Painting your brake calipers.
I can't imagine a can of the paint is more than $10. It will probably take you a few hours by the time you jack the car up, pull the wheels and calipers, and wait for the paint to dry. Hell, if you did this one first, by the time you finished up the other stuff people are posting the calipers would be dry and the wheels would be ready to go back on.

Fog light mod (also in the how-to section)

30 minutes and another cheap fix if you want to change something up.

i also did the cheap weekend mods !!!!........

painted my front calipers red.....( front only so far )
VHT nightshade.. the front side markers and back reflectors...

im in the process of doing the fog light mod!! almost done.. pics tomorrow.

well i have some input on the v3 mani and FMIC..well worth it..look at the v3 mani..how could u not want this.. u should do both the mani and downpipe at the same time, its much easier to install them both and theres alot of room to work when both are out at the same time..as far as FMIC goes go with a custom one.. save urself about $500 over CP-E's and go with one of alteredcustoms kits.. jennifer is really nice and there a good choice of cores to go with depending on what u want..

ull definetly need a FP after those mods and PTP's is a good coice i have kmd's so we'll see how long those last.. if they fail its PTP for me..

i havent done the diff mounts but i plan to over the winter.. and a OCC is always a good thing to have as well..

wow, that mani is beautiful. you could pretty much hang that up on a wall.

how bout a driver mod. 40 bucks and a day of auto cross. best mod for the money IMO.

+1 to Autocross!

Some cheap mods, maybe swap out some lighting to LED's & get chrome dipped turn signal bulbs. Also engine & throttle body grounding are a nice mod that's very inexpensive to do. Footwell lighting is also inexpensive but is a big hit when done tastefully.
