Itching to customize my 2013 Mazda5

Hey friends! I've had my stick-shift 2013 Mazda5 for 2 years now and I'm itching to make it unique - mostly cosmetic stuff. Any recommendations? I'm thinking different rear lights and head lights. It has to be relatively inexpensive and tasteful. I'm not planning on spending a fortune on wheels and tires (though I would have loved to if I had the money). And yeah, the sound system is quite bad - any recommendations there?

I was in the SAME boat as you. The beauty, A fair bit of the speed3 and regular 3 stuff fits. Chunky sway bar for the rear, and HR makes Mazda5 SPECIFIC lowering springs (if that's your thing). I've been toying wiht doing the sound system on mine as well. I grabbed a 5zigen catback off fleabay for a 3, or maybe a speed3 I can't recall, and took it to the local exhaust shop and had them massage it. I've looked for different headlights, but have found jack...nada...nil. Tailights...meh I kinda like the stock ones. The rear motor mount can be found from different suppliers. OOOH and there are LED DRL fog light inserts on ebay too. Brings the car to like 2017 at least hahaha.

With a car like this, my personal opinion is to just stay up to date with the maintenance and avoid any other unnecessary expenses.

Sorry to dissapoint zoomies100, but there isn't any different lights for Mazda 5. 😅
USDM lights are basically same as EUDM and JDM, only difference is that you have that amber reflector in your headlights.
And you dont have rear foglight, so both of your trunklid lights are clear.
EUDM and JDM have rearfog, so we have one light red in trunklid.

I have seen eyebrowns for Mazda 5, they might be tasteful.
Then this ezlip or samurai lip in front is pretty nice.

And for the rear bumper you can find from aliexpress these little corner lip thingys.

Other easy/cheap is debadging trunklid, or painting emblems black, or body color.
Mirrorcovers can be wrapped/painted to gloss black.
Or if you like chrome, there are chrome covers for mirrors and door handles.

The Blooms have done nice write up here for hifi upgrade, you should check that out for more information in that area.

Oh, I forgot.
Changing the interior bulbs to LED-bulbs makes so huge difference that it's almost a must thing to do!

And also LED-bulbs to front parking lights and foglights.
And there is also LED-lights for licenceplate lights. 👌🏼

This is great information @Maikel. I love the ideas! Thank you so much. I love your wheels - what size are they? I'm definitely going to find a place that will de-badge it for me. Is this the kind of ez lip you're referring to (link)? And last question - does changing to LED bulbs easy? Is it just buying a different bulb?

Personally, I recommend replacing the rear tail light bulbs with brighter LED 7443 style bulbs. I also recommend replacing your head light bulbs with LED retrofit bulbs. I have had very good luck with Auxito LED bulbs on Amazon. I also replaced the head unit to a pivoting 9" touchscreen with backup cam (BOSS Audio Elite BE9ACP.XC). These mild changes really transform the car and make it feel very modern, with Android Auto/Carplay. I also applied a custom-fit leather steering wheel wrap from DIYSteeringwheel.com. It really made a huge difference to the "feel" of the car.

@MarkVII88 thank you!!! Would something like this work for my headlights? https://amazon.ca/FAHREN-H11-9005-Brightness-Headlights/dp/B0DD361TGB/

@MarkVII88 - you're absolutely awesome. Thanks for the tips. Regarding the head unit. I found a couple. Do you know which one would fit?

I would simply go to Crutchfield.com to shop for head units. They have direct fit options available, dash trim kits, and all the adapters and connectors you will need. I have installed 2 different head units and backup cams from Crutchfield and really like their level of support. It may cost a bit more, but the fit is excellent, and you save the most money if you can DIY the installation.

I'm in Canada, so crutchfield isn't an option for me.

Yep, that's the lip what I meaned.
But if you use AliExpress you could get it much cheaper.

I got my lip from there and it was less than 10€. 😅

And changing to led-bulbs isn't difficult.
Just like changing bulb, but new is just led bulb.

My wheels are 19" and from Mazda 6.
