It was tough, but I did it....

Found the instructions on the trip A and B settings, that is........... It was a little hard to decipher from the manual, but after I first - found the right section of the manual (the index at the back was not helpful), then finally figured out where the "Odometer, Trip Meter and Trip Meter Selector" was (that thing is INVISIBLE on the Type A gauge cluster); I was able to switch them and reset to zero, etc. I felt like I had learned how to fly an airplane!

Anyone else learn how to do something on their car that made you feel like you had truly conquered the world? Between this and finding the lumbar control, I am the master of my domain..........

you mean the little black stick you press to swap between trip A and B and then long press to reset either one?

lol

When I first started driving, I worked for a company that sent me off to repair computer networks. When I passed my driving test, they were overjoyed! So, each trip, I pretty much had a new car. Second car, I drove 200+ miles and sorted out the client. Afterward, I got back to the car and could not reverse out of the space. I was foxed. Could not work out how to get the car in reverse. It was one of those you have to pull the collar up the gear stick toward the top as well as move it to the right gate. 30 minutes and I had to ask a passer by.

Yes! That invisible little stick! I knew of it's existence solely because the sales guy showed it to me when I took delivery of the car and mentioned the display was really dim. But that was all he told me it did, not that it also controlled the trip gauges. So I kept reading this on page 4-11:
The display mode can be changed between trip meter A and trip meter B by pressing the selector while one of them is displayed.
But it never said where the freaking "selector" was! So I kept looking at that diagram on the opposite page and finally (FINALLY!) put two and two together (literally - it was a circled 2) and figured out the little invisible stick had more than one job.

If they would just put a little note there in the instructions that referred you back to the diagram, it would have been most helpful. Like See 2 on Diagram - or even just a circled 2 would have been nice.

Now its time to learn some of the buttons on the steering wheel, like the INFO button/trip computer on the steering wheel, or the speech command system...

Yep, I haven't even tried to talk to my car yet. The salesman used it to tune the radio when we were out a test drive - but it was a different one than the one I bought. So I don't even know if it's set up in mine yet. But that was pretty cool.

I have the same feature in my truck and have never taken full advantage of it either. Use it mainly to make phone calls, which is aggravating when it dials the wrong number........

I have used the info button on the steering wheel, was pleased to see the miles to empty reading. For some reason I use that one a lot.

I found the trip selector just yesterday. Not sure how to use it yet, I turned it a bit and nothing seemed to happen but I was driving at the time so didn't pay close attention. I am super excited for this weekend because I'll have some free time to go over more settings and learn how to use more of the features. It's been a really fun experience so far, there are so many options hidden away in different menus I feel like I'm learning something new every time I start digging into things.

Turning it adjusts the brightness of the gauge display at night - pushing it quickly switches from Trip A to B and back, push and hold on the selected trip to reset to 0.

I went from a '91 B2600i pickup to my '15 CX-5 GT w/Tech and auto headlights. Fist time the headlights switched on automatically the dimmer shaft was on full bright which meant the nav screen was always in daylight mode. For the next couple of days I spent adjusting the display settings from manual day or night mode. Asked myself how in the heck does the auto mode work?

It pays to download the user manual and study it prior to picking up the vehicle.

Really challenging is getting a rental and figuring out the various displays, mirror adjustments and whether or not you have auto headlights. Oh yeah, look for the gas nozzle hatch and inside release.

Amazing how many people leave their phone address books stored in the rental audio units.
