iSImple Ipod adapter install issue

Hi guys!
Could you please help me with iSimple ipod adapter install.

I have 2010 Mazda 5 touring.

I have bought isimple Mazda-specific harness (PGHMZ1) and isimple gateway box (PXAMG).
I have updated box to the latest mazda specific firmware (v 838).

Hooked it up following instructions in PGHMZ1 manual.
Problem is headunit cant communicate properly with the gateway box. Word "Updating" is flashing forever. Manual says it should not take longer than 1 min. Isimple and pac-audio website listed Mazda 5 2010 as compatible. I tried to call them, and they said that it is probably is a defective gateway box.

I bought another one, and it is acting the same way. Either the harness (PGHMZ1) is f-d up, or maybe they have not fixed the issue with latest mazda firmware.

Has anyone install this piece of crap in their 3 or 5?
I would like to know if it ever worked for anyone....I've seen couple of youtube videos posted of isimple working in Mazda 3, but none is 5.

So anyone, please shed the light on this or share your thoughts.

I am similar situation with iSimple ISMZ571 Gateway and a 2010 Mazda 5 touring. The iSimple firmware is up to date (838) and the unit also says "Updating" in the OEM LCD display but never gets past that point. I am waiting to hear back from their technical support.

Hi,
I gave up after spending enormous amount of time trying to solve it. I contacted tech support and
Spoke with Isimple senior engineer and still no luck. I also sent them technical manual with full schematics for our factory headunit made by clarion. They said they need a physical access to car to attempt to fix this issue.
So I sold isimple gear. Thinking of getting aftermarket headunit.

Thank you. I too returned the iSimple gear after spending more time than expected. Like you, I called technical support a few times and they suggested it was a defective part. Next, I contacted a local audio auto dealer and reseller of iSimple products. They were not able to get it to work even after swapping the iSimple module, wiring harness, flashing different versions of firmware, etc. The radio would continue to report "Updating". It was was determined to be incompatible despite being listed as compatible. I purchased the Mazda OEM Sirius satellite equipment kit from the local audio auto dealer who helped me to troubleshoot this and it works now. Hoping this helps others out who might consider the iSimple products.
