Is this boost lag, if so what will fix it...

Mazdaspeed 2008.5
I am new owner of a 2008.5 CWP MS3 and I love the car. I am new to boost and the only mod I have is a Mazdaspeed CAI. So the scenario pans out as follows:

Whenever driving aggressively the car pulls strong in each gear (all shifting is before 6k rpm). Go to change gears, pressing in clutch pedal while lifting off throttle, change to next highest gear as fast as possible, then lift off clutch while jumping back on throttle. It's at this point where I notice a harsh, although brief, delay in power when getting back on the throttle. This happens regardless of little the rpms drop bewtween shifts. Is this boost lag?(shrug)

My questions:

1. Is this the effects of an aftermarket intake?
2. Is my stock BPV leaking? (doesn't seem to be at 20,000 miles and pulls trong) If so, will an aftermarket forge or HKS unit fix this sensation?
3. Am I just driving this car completely wrong?

Any constructive comments or experiences would be more than appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can do that, but I'm not sure I'd listen to the banned person who has been posting penis photos. Very hard on the drivetrain. You should have some pull before the turbo hits, but it sounds like boost lag to me. How long does it last?

It only lasts briefly. It does seem like I may need to get back on the gas sooner before releasing the clutch. I just need to do this faster. My last car was a BMW 330i with an inline 6. It had a very linear torque curve. I love the pull on this car though. I want to make sure the car is behaving correctly.

Is the traction control turned off during spirited driving?

You can do a "no-lift-shift" to find out for sure. (dunno)

If it's boost lag you're feeling, that should pretty much get rid of it...

It almost sounds like you're getting back on the gas too soon and the clutch is slipping before the gear is fully engaged...

Traction control is always on. Does that make a big difference when shifting?

if the tires slip during a hard shift, the the traction control light will flash and the engine will fall on it's face, very noticeable. It sounds like you are just warming up to the lag.

I've never seen the traction ligtht come on during shifts, but I guess it's possible. I wouldn't say that it falls flat on its face. Just a big hesitation and then it recovers.

Sounds like normal turbo lag, it also happened in my Audi S4 biturbo, and those were smaller K03s (although I did upgrade to K04s, and the lag was slightly worse). What made it worse was stomping on the gas after shifting, sometimes the turbos liked it better when I somewhat eased into it, not sure if this was happening after heatsoak or not, but it seemed to get worse after running hard for a while.

Some will also say that the RPMs might be dropping down too low, and staying on the gas a bit while shifting might help, but I have never found this to help in my case.

sounds like turbo lag...
or could it just be the fly-by-wire system taking a while to respond?
