here is what whoosh told me:
two questions>theory

check the tube that connects to the back of your valve cover that goes to the intake tube
if it has oil in it as does your turbo (in posted pics)
you are getting excessive blow by and may have an engine issue
If that is the case, I'd do a compression test and leak down on your cylinders

I have a small K&N filter on my valve cover and it had zero oil accumulation

theory 2 - if the valve cover to intake tube is dry. Your turbo seals are shot on the compressor side and is leaking into your intake tract

Remember some oil is in the exhaust gases so a bit of oil is normal in a closed system... A catch can will reduce the amount of oil you see...
Check the Subaru forums you will see others that have removed their intercooler report the same condition...

here is what whoosh told me:

From what I understand this is from the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve. Any blow-by from the compression stroke is picked up and fed back into the intake system.

Wikipedia PCV Valve

Individuals from the club forum have implemented a oil catch can system to help with the problem. It seems this is a relatively typical problem for high compression turbo charged cars. (You'll find info on both the Subi and Evo forums.

Why our cars dumps this much oil is questionable though... I have the same issue with my car when I took off the intercooler too.

IMO blow by is one thing but i am pretty sure that you have a problem there sir!!! sounds like warrenty work to me.

i don't know if its blown because it isn't having problems hitting peak boost. but that might not have an affect.

checked my crankcase vent that connects to the intake and there is no oil in the intake path so it has to be coming strictly from the turbo.

Well, all I can say is take it to the dealer and have them document it at least. Maybe they can clue you in. Let us know! :)

just because it is still making boost doesn't mean that it isn't blown... if you bust an oil seal and are getting a signifigant amount of oil on the compressor (cold) side than that would be considered blown. i mean i have 30,000 on my car right now and i have never seen blow-by like that or on anyother car for that matter so just take it in for a check-up mang.

I was looking at the pictures again. If this is right after the turbo, before the Intercooler (rear of the engine), then I would agree you probably have a turbo issue. If this is after the Intercooler (front of the engine) then its probably the PCV valve issue. Either way, go to the dealer so they can diagnose / document (can't hurt).

you def have a turbo problem, when i had the stock turbo it was the same, and after i changed it for the gt3071 the issue was fixed.

I had a Mini Cooper S and I used to have oil in the intercooler. I installed the Oil Catch can at the PCV valve and it reduced the amount of oil in the intercooler.

It is normal on FI cars. But it doesn't hurt to have it checked.

update for those interested. i am currently sitting at the dealer and talked to the service manager and he said they have to call mazda tech ask them and tell them about my boost gauge to see if that could cause the problem or not, he said it probably wouldn't (if they even say it can i will flip out because there is no way its possible) but i just have to wait and see what they say.

EDIT: well they say they have to check out another speed6 and see if it is like that too which won't be until monday, so just have to keep waiting.
